I've only put maybe 4000 miles on my MM since I had the carbon trac-lok clutches done. Filled with Royal Purple 75w140. Lately I've noticed some moaning when turning sharp corners or in circles from the rear. So I changed the fluid. Came out fairly dark. Noise gone. Surprised it needed changing already. I know some change it after the break in period or roughly 500 miles, some don't. So my question is, anyone have a similar issue? I would think I could go 20,000 miles this time without changing. Or am I wrong?

Some times with the Ford rearends you need to add an extra bottle of friction modifier to them. This helps to prevent them from chattering when turning corners. Never changed mine but I did add an extra bottle of the friction modifier and I have never had the problem. I could be just lucky but I was told to do this by an old Ford mechanic that I trust.

I would put an extra bottle in if it was mine even after changing the fluid. Cant hurt it :)

Even with using RP, I'd still add a bottle of FM to it. I did the last time I changed mine.

Never changed the fluid in mine since gears were installed.... over 70K miles, Redline 75/140, no friction modifier, no noise either.

Yes, the Royal Purple says it has FM in it. I might add some extra like you said. But all is good now, so we will see.

Mobil1 says so to. But on two different cars they chattered in less than a WEEK.

No matter what brand I use regular , or synthetic , I add the FM and no chatter.

FORD FM is the best.......always add a 4 oz. bottle regardless of the Premium fluid claims......won't hurt a thing and guarantees NO CHATTER!!

I have used the royal purple from install of the 410's and not a peep! Prolly 7k miles on them. No fm

It never chattered. It was more of a moan. Gone now.

I always add FM as well... cheap investment.

Don't trust the bottles that say additive included. Whenever I do gears for myself or someone I use whatever in 75w-140 with a bottle of modifier.

I'll pick some up and slop it in there.

I had the slight binding after the same mod , I loved every instance when the tires grabbed going around tight corners.
I too added an extra bottle of whale sperm and it was a little quieter immediately.
After a few months it went away entirely.
and yes Eric you are most certainly special! :P
