"Murphman" is not the owner of the custom build shop, but he is the owner of the experimental Marauder you see in the pics. Sorry, no vendor rule violation here. Murph is a serious MM owner, and good guy too. Can't say I blame him for staying under the radar...

Nice job on the fit and finsh. Looks very professional. Please don't take offense to this but it is not for me. To classy of a car for this, kinda ricer. Sorry, please don't this hold against me. I do feel that people should do what makes them. I will say it is an original.

I love the hood...I gotta find some time to start playing with custom stuff like that... That's just cool!
I hate it when I get out-pimped though...
That is beautiful! Now, if it was truly functional as well...I couldn't justify $2K for the looks alone, even though I love the light up letters.

$2K is to pricey for me.
I'm glad to see somebody out there trying new things.
That scoop (and others like it) are available in several mustang magizines for not to much money. Buy a scoop of your liking get a crown vic hood from a bone yard spend a few weekends in your garage, take it to your local autobody shop for paint and you just saved yourself $1000 or more.
And you'll have the pride of doing it yourself. :)
But then again I'm a cheap b@st@rd.

hey guys how ya doing. This is Ron Kleber, owner of Gator Customs. I would 1st like to start off saying thanks to everyone that likes the work that we have done to Mr. Murphys vehicle. A lot of work went in to the vehicle and it is nice to have people appreciate it. I did not ask Mr. Murphy to post on this forum since i did not even know it existed. If it is possible for anyone to see the car up close you should do so as it is hard to tell the quality from a picture. i have seen cars up close that i have seen in magazines that look like **** in person. As far as breaking any vendor rules i am not trying to do that for i am simply trying to clear up the fact that Mr. Murphy does not own the shop. I don't need to advertise anything sine Zack already did it by posting links to our ebay listings..... thanks buddy. I am not a vendor since i do not have a product to sell simply labor. thanks again to anyone who appreciates the work we did to Mr. Murphys vehicle.

I don't understand why someone would have serious mods done to their car, then turn around and sell them on e-bay. If I was asking $300 for the grill on my car, how much did it cost me in the first place, to be able to make a profit. Likewise, how much does gator custom charge for the hood if "mr murphy" has his on ebay for $1950. So RON, how much are these items from the shop? Obviously there is a captive audience here for custom mods.

The pictures on ebay are of Murphy's car but they are not for the products on his car. As i stated i sell labor not products. If you come into the shop you are purchasing my time and skills to perform a service. The 1950. price that is on ebay is for the modification to your stock hood. I will supply the scoop, lighting, paint, and anything else needed to do this. This price may seem high to some but you need to see the finished hood to understand. I am not a hack shop like many body shops out there, we only do quality work or it does not leave the shop. We have been in business for 30yrs with no advertising. We stay in business from referrals from happy customers.

Just to clear up that misconception, If you sell anything, labor or parts, make a profit of this site in any way, you're considered a vendor. I sent you all the information you need to comply with our vendor rules and you're absolutely welcome to hang out! Welcome to the site!
That being said, the work is first class and I love the way it turned out. Truly a work of art!

Just to let everyone know the shop that did the work on the hood that I saw wants $2000 for it. It does not light up like the Gator hood does. The quality was first rate though and was fabricated in steel.

Okay youse guys, listen up. If you're into hood scoops, this mod will appeal to you. If not, gimmie a break, K?
I met up with Murphman just an hour ago. Considering the distance I travel to meet up with MM owners, he's across the street from me. I knew he was into this project two months ago, when he test drove my KB1x with the prototype control arms before Zack and I announced them here. Murphman knows his history on muscle cars, he knows how to drive, and he loves his MM as much as all of us do. Moreover, he didn't punch me for what I said about Hemi engines in another thread. If he did punch me, it would hurt, and I'd have to knee-cap the lug before that would happen, but, I digress.
As Murphman explained his plan to me back then, I just couldn't quite get a feel for his image. I like my hood the way it is, and I'm not sure any scoop would look good on ant MM. But, I remember that my ex-wife never changed her hair style while we were married, so, maybe it's just me and my static view on some things. Anyway, I listened, and I tried real hard to picture his dream. Nothing was gellin. When pics arrived here, his dream still had no real life in it, in my eyes. Albeit, when you post construction pics of body mods, there's always the danger of alarming the patient's owner with the "surgery" aspect of body mods.
Tonight, I examined this mod with my own eyes, and my eyeballs bumped into my eyeglasses. You won't believe the magic performed here, and I'm not going to do that any justice in explaining what I saw, sorry. I'm just not smart enough to describe this to y'all.
The base scoop is from Ford's heritage, '70 style. Murphman updated that with his own thoughts on style, making it a tad wider and longer, with sharper tapers that flow with the body lines. Awesome fit, awesome finish, this scoop is very much in scale with the real estate surrounding it. Cold air induction is very possible for N/A cars, and Murphman says Gator is working on that twist now. Rest assured, it won't change your pinion angle in any degree.
This "gatorglass" is likewise awesome...Mysterious. I can't imagine how they did this, and Murphman says they won't tell him everything. But, the end effect is truely magical. In plain sight (in evening light), you can see "Marauder" on the scoop, as it appears on our speedo. It's subtle, like ghost flames. It makes you look twice, wondering if you're seeing things. Visible, but not. Seamless too, as you glide your finger over the expected "decal" feel, you can't feel a thing. It's like rare coins encased in Lucite, you can see a texture and expect to feel it, but you're magically numb to that. Smooth as glass, a true magical illusion.
Then, the Murphman switches something that adds power, and they light up. No...They glow, warmly. I got a feel for "logs on the fire," like some of FMC's custom paints on the Mustang make me feel. The image is sharp and clear looking directly at it. Then it fades away as you change angles. If Murphman was directly behind me in traffic, I would see nothing, no "red light on front of vehicle" violations. But, at slighter and greater angles, a soft, warm burgundy glow reaches out to you like a fine wine warms your throat. This is a very hot mod, and it's a very cool mod. It's also very neat modding. Jeeze...I'm running out of words, this mod is just plain beautiful, and the workmanship is simply perfect, K?
Is it worth 2 large? IMHO...If you're into hood scoops, or, you want your MM to be strikingly impressive at first glance, YES!
There's no question that many more hours of prep and attention to detail went into this mod, than 2K could cover. I've done some experimental work myself, and being the first one to do something on the MM can be expensive for the first one to try it. I'm willing to bet that Gator Customs is very business savy, and knows when and how, to market a new mod to a specific target.
Murphman says Gator Customs has been in the custom fabrication business for over 30 years. Family owned, multi-generational, talent passed from hand to hand. I like that, it's like working with the blacksmiths that built the gears and wheels that built America. Murphman says they have collected uncountable show awards too, so, IMHO, Gator gave this mod away to Murphman as a loss leader for 2K. I can see a number of us wanting to do business with Gator Customs. Logan, and Barry, y'all in deep trouble here.
I'll be visiting Gator Customs myself in the next few days, I have some oddball ideas of my own, in need of a custom fabricator of this quality, and I need to meet these guys, and render my own opinion.
Bravo, Murphman!
Bravo, Gator Customs!
Both of you rock!
