I recently bought a 2003 Marauder. Runs perfect. I've added a K&N cold air intake so far as well as a general tuneup. When I first start the car up in the morning and sometimes but not very often, after I've shut the motor completely off, I hear a rumbling or growling noise from under the hood for just a few seconds, then it stops on it's own. I've tried several times to pop the hood and check to see where it's coming from exactly, but it stops before I can get there. Any idea on what this is?

Air compressor?

The RAS compressor will generally run every time you get in the car and start the engine, due to the addition of your weight, and will vent air when you exit, but it shouldn't run the compressor after you shut the car off unless you add MORE weight.

Yes, this sound is fairly normal and it is the air suspension system bleeding off air pressure when "larger" drivers exit the car. Nothing to worry about. It stops in a few seconds.

MarauderMark used to call this the "Sound of Death". Here is a link to a discussion that goes back to 2006 on this >>>>> http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=25083

Most gasoline cars do that.
It is the pressure in the engine releasing.
It is normal. Mine does it all the time.

This^^^^I never knew what it exactly was, but the sound is coming from the air intake....nothing to worry about
