I never really realised how bad the OEM tune was till today. I bought my MM used in 2010 and it had the factory tune. While never really being a fan of the OEM trans tune it got me where I needed to go.

I received an SCT from Ms.D for Christmas a few years ago and took my sweet time putting the Lidio (Alternative Auto, a sponsor here) tune in it. After the NH meet in 2012 I finally put the tune in as Haggis threatened to steal my car and do it himself if I didn't. I really didn't think it would make that big of a difference for the type of use my MM gets.

Boy was I wrong. After I put the Lidio tune in I noticed right away the trans shifting schedule was so much more in tune so to speak with hill climbing, passing etc. My tune is fairly tame as I don't care for the neck snapping shifts like some but the fact that the car will now hold a gear makes all the difference in the World.

So a couple years go by and it's time for inspection and I need all the monitors ON so I put the OEM tune back in yesterday and today drove the MM around for 50-60 miles to get everything synced up.

God how awful the OEM tune really is. OD by 30mph, buggy lugging up the hills in OD or having the car slow so much on a hill the car finally admits it needs to downshift and instead of one gear it chooses multiple gears then shifts erratically til it finds one it likes for the briefest of moments before OD is hurriedly found again.:banghead: Oh Steve Babcock, what were you thinking?

Hoping the car passes muster tomorrow and like others have admitted I will also find a nearby parking area and put the Lidio tune back in.:burn:

If you are reading this and have a bone stock car I can't reiterate enough, if the only mod you ever do is get a tune from Lidio or Mo's you will enjoy your MM so much more. :)

I just had mine inspected a couple weeks ago, it does suck riding on stock tune

Here is the drive cycle just follow along and you can reset the computer in 2 days http://www.obdii.com/drivecycleford.html

JUST REMEMBER IT HAS YOU CLEAR CODES TO RESET THAN DO THE DRIVE CYCLE YOU WILL HAVE CODE P1000 UNTIL THE COMPUTER IS READY. DONT KEEP CLEARING THE CODE OR YOU HAVE TO START ALL OVER AGAIN.

If you really want a different feel install some 4:10 gears with the tune

BTW, it wasn't Steve's fault, it was the CAFE-compliance nitwits...it needed to get into OD ASAP to help it not be a gas-guzzler, which the Rousch guy said it passed by a razor-thin margin...

Steve and I had a good chat at MV9. Same reason the car came with 3.55's instead of the 4.10's it was supposed to have. He should have stomped around and thrown staplers and other office supply stuff at the CAFE people though. ;)

As part of Zack's martyrdom he has agreed to do this to all of the Marauders he touches. He said he3 will help save the planet one Marauder at a time! :violin:

My first tune was from Dennis R.
I was at my 1st MV event in Indy if I remember correctly.
I was so excited to get my first performance modification.
I was even happier when I got the proper tune for my computer code so I could make it out of the parking lot!
Good times!

When I flew to Texas to buy my 04' I had a tuner with me! I didn't drive my 04 more than about 20 ft before I put a tune on it.
