Anyone ever use one of the various optima battery trays available?

Noticed quite a few people make them, they look nice.

Was wondering if anyone has ever tried one on a marauder?

I never heard of an Optima battery before, they look good are they a superior battery or just an alternative brand?

In the trunk by personal choice or is there an advantage to that eg. more room under the hood for supercharger etc.

Optima's are good batteries but on the expensive side.

Trunk mounted batteries are an old drag racing trick to get more weight in the rear for more traction.

I just bought one to setup like Rogers in the trunk. Wanted a stronger battery and also upgraded the alternator due to all the added electronics I have.

I never heard of an Optima battery before, ... are they a superior battery or just an alternative brand?Optima batteries are AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) as opposed to conventional lead-acid, which allows them to be mounted in any orientation, and are also built with a unique "Spiral Cell" construction, which gives them their signature "six-pack" look. They are less susceptible to shock and vibration which makes them good for off-road, marine, and other such uses, but in truth they are of no benefit in a street-driven car, and are much more expensive than a traditional battery.

The only exception is that the "Yellow Top" version is rated for both engine starting and deep-cycle use, which may be of some value if you have a megawatt stereo and like to use it a lot without the engine running.

Optima batteries were formerly made by Gylling of Sweden, which has recently been purchased by Johnson Controls.

+1!

Doesn't hurt the handling, either.

True, not really of much benefit for most of us. But when did reason become part of this?

If you have an accessory (stereo, maybe a 12V refrigerator ;))you intend to run off the battery with the engine off a deep cycle battery would last a lot longer.
