Chugs on start up

Hello,

Since I bought my car a few years back, the car has always been a little tricky starting sometimes. It will start to fire up, and then putter and die. But if I follow through longer with the ignition, it will start, but not as easy as it should. It does have a K&N CAI installed, could this be the culprit?

There are a lot of things it could be. Too many to list. Take it to a mechanic.

Some things to check & do.


Clean IAC with appropriate cleaner
Clean MAF with appropriate cleaner (could have oil on it from over oiling the K&N)
Check MAF connections
Clean throttle body with appropriate cleaner
Check the wiring harness behind the drivers side cam cover for chaffing
Check all the hose connections for the K&N
Check the PCV valve and rubber connection for any cracks, make sure connections are tight.


When was the last time the spark plugs were changed?
