Coworkers Marauder rear suspension keeps going out. Sag then automatically fixes now is sagging again. He doesn't want the problem anymore so I told him to swap to coils but not sure which ones.
I'm sure he prefers the ride over handling, nothing special to take a turn going 50mph.

Replacing the rear air bags and compressor is not a hard job, I replaced mine in an evening after work.

I've got a barely-used set of Ford air springs (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=91428), the specific Marauder part number. Only used them for 10 months then took them out. Been sitting in my garage.

How long did it take to replace the air bags and was it difficult??

Sounds like the ride height sensor has failed - part is cheaper than two coils.
compressor goes out it will usually sag and stay sagging. airspring goes out it will always sag and stay sagging.
The sensor shaft will often come loose from the sensor linkage and cause false readings which can cause the erratic ride height you've described.

Also replace the under hood relay for the compressor......it WILL cause intermittent problems when the points burn with age......don't as how I know!!!:mad2::argue:
