:help:Well it seems my gears just went out and need to replace them. I figured this is the perfect time to step up to 373 or 410. Thing is I'm planning a build for Whipple 2.9 in NeaR future. Do I really need 4.10 with a S/C or should I just stick with the same 3.55 or maybe 3.73. What are the pros and cons of either gears with S/C. :help:

Yes it will if you are going to take your landbarge out and run at Bonneville fro top speed.

If you are going with a 2.9L Whipple , keep your 3:55s , the 4:10s will be a waste of money , you will have a hard enuff time getting it to hook with the 3:55s! just ask CWright!

On roadcoarse's I almost wish I went with a higher(numerically lower) gear, as I never get into 1st gear and I could be going faster out of allot of turns if I could get into high rev's with first instead of low revs in 2nd.

But 3.73 for me is an all around ok ratio - if your spending the cash JUST to switch gears, switching just one step is not really worth it, which is why most Marauders guys go with 4.10 and most Vic guys go with 3.73, two steps makes a big difference without going overboard with side effects.

Either way he goes, tires will have to be included in the budget.

Almost all the Eatons that Drag Raced went with 4:10.

Depends on whether you're looking for 1/4 mile speed or top speed. 1/4 mile go with the 4.10's, top speed you may want to do 3.2X's on in that range.

After Trilogy Installation, I went back to 3.55 from 4.10 due to drive-ability around town and launching at drag strip with Street tires. Very pleased.

I have ~400 rwhp, 3.73's on a Boss 302 Torsen with 05+ Ford 31 spline axles, a Dynotech driveshaft and forced lube trans tailshaft. I also run smaller than stock outside diameter tires on the rear, 255/45R-18 Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS. It is an awesome combination. Very rarely need to come out of overdrive on the freeways. Keep in mind that higher rear gears reduces the torque that the transmission has to deal with. So, 3.73's does help over 3.55's and it is noticeable with the blower.
