View Full Version : Nitto NT555 Tread Life?

New rubber is on the agenda for my MM. I've got old F1's on there now and they're around ~3/32 right now.
Been lookin at Nitto Motivo as well as the NT555. I'm aware of the Motivo 60k tread wear warranty as well as its much better tread wear rating. What I'm looking for is feedback from anyone that may have used or is currently using the NT555. I really like the look of the NT555 as well as the sizing options. FWIW, I would be going with 265/50/18 rear, 255/45/18 front.
Can anyone provide insight as to how long they last? I've heard all the way from only 15k all the way to ~38-40k. Thought it would help to have some feedback from actual MM owners. Any and all help is appreciated.

I run those sizes on my 03. 2nd set on this Marauder.
Fronts ~35/40K.
Rears ~20/25K
Not much track time, but does enjoy the hard acceleration onto a freeway from time to time where it breaks traction getting into 2nd. Car is not beat on, but it is driven a little hard. Burn outs generally at end of life. Most of the driving is commute, ~40 miles each way to work, most highway but stop and go traffic.
I try to avoid taking mine out in the rain, but when it has been wet, no issues with driving on the 555's. I do slow it down and take my time, but I do that in my truck as well when it is raining.

The wear of the rear tires are directly proportional to the amount and lengths of burnouts performed. :burn: :burn:

I only get around 3 to 4K on mine but it is all self-inflicted. My fronts I have gotten around 20K out of them and only had to replace them due to a camber issue.
I run the nt555's and like them a lot. 255-40-18 front and 295-45-18 rear. They get descent traction and the wear is good. 20-25k on fronts and 10-15k rears. Lots of sliding around.... lol. I run the same on my notch just a 315-35-17 555r on rear and great traction with good wear.

555's on the rear and the first set lasted 50K and I spin 'em a good bit.....NO BURNOUTS but launch spins with very little squealing for some reason??
I had 'em on front but the wore badly and got very noisy....went with Kumhos up front and they are MUCH quieter...not sure how long they will last though!!:shake:
Good Luck!!

it also depends are these going to be on year round? or does the car get parked in winter?
i have Nitto 555's and live them. they are my summer tires and lasted already 2 years (2 summers (sping-summer fall) )
racking up much mileage 20-30k at least.
but i do run winterforce with steel wheels in winter. dont wanna mess up my rims.

I bought my 265/50 NT555's used from another member that already had a few thousand miles on them and need to be replaced now. I'd say I've gotten somewhere around 28-30k miles out of them. Most likely will be replacing with a 255/55.
Can not comment on Motives or front size as I have some 255/45 Generals which have held up plenty well but alignment is way out and passenger is wearing heavy on the outter side.
Thankfully winter time is here and winter tires go on soon!
If tread wear rating is important to you and do a lot miles or at least DD the car the Motives would be a better choice.

Tires would be year rounders. We don't get winter here in The Sunshine State
Hmmm. Well, sounds like a lot of good input. Anybody else? Any glaring negatives? I don't drive my car too hard, but it is a DD and I enjoy the occasional WOT run from a light.
