How do these powerplants fair when it comes to dyno tuning and doing some basic bolt on mods?

What's the pushing point for them?

What are some basic worth while mods?

Stock block about 500HP :)
MO's Tune,JLT or K&N cold air intake,410 gears for a starters.
Mods are endless depending on $$$

How much of an increase would I notice just with what you mentioned? How much would that shave off of the 1/4 mile? Also, are the 4r470w's better to tune than the 4r75w?

More get up & go with 410s with these heavy cars & JLT adds more air in the intake.
Maybe 14s from the stock 16s 1/4 mile.
4r470w's & 4r75w ,I think have different converters but almost the same.

Mo's shop & vender on here can give you a tune to wake the car up & up the
trans shifting too.:bows:

The general consensus is the stock block AND stock internals are limited to about 450 RWHP..most of the eaton swap guys are at 410-430 rwhp with stock internals. The block is prolly good for 500 with forged rods and pistons, crank..I have forged rods and pistons and nitrided stiock crank and am safely(safe is a open -ended term) tuned for 455 but it was up to 470 and backed off from there. Not saying it means boom proof

Just a tune alone from say MO's speed shop will gain around 20 hp and much improve the shifting schedule..I hear longtube headers are good for 25+ (must be tuned for them)

Tune, probably 12-17hp, cold air intake around 8-10hp, 4.10's will give you no horsepower. These are the 3 most recommended mods.

Steeda underdrive pulleys i would guess 5-7hp.
Php intake spacer, dont waste your money, i bought mine used for $25, and would have been pissed with spending any more.
Headers and exhaust, 15+ hp n/a, with a dyno tune.
Deleting second set of cats, maybe 3 hp if your lucky, mainly done for exhaust tone
J-mod to the tranny, no hp, but firms up the shifts(chirp second gear)
Nitrous, wet: 75 shot would be conservative, 100 shot is considered safe but you will need a tune either one.
Nitrous, dry: i dont find it safe to do.

These are most of the n/a bolt on mods, there are more, like torque converters, that will yeild you better 1/4 mile times, but are much more involved.
Lock it up! This thread is done:D

The upper limit for Naturally Aspirated (N/A) appears to be in the 305-310 RWHP range good for about 13.2 @ 103 MPH. For more than that, you'll have to go with some type of forced induction.

Some of the guys here have been chasing that magical 13.0 flat in N/A form for years without much success. Many of them have just given up and rolled over to one of the S/C options. Check the "Timeslips" page for the state of the possible.

Does he still tune cars? How would one get in touch with him?
