Out in my Marauder today and a police cruiser passes me going the other direction, I notice in my rear view mirror he does a hard U-turn and is now following me 2 cars back.

A few miles up the road I turn left into a gas station, he goes by does another U-turn up the road and comes back pulling into the police station so I drive thru to the other side and wait for traffic, so I can go out onto the highway.

No luck he pulls up beside me and gets out, I figure no cats and the flowmasters have me in trouble and the jig is up for illegal exhaust.

So he says to me "Is that a real Marauder, I said yes, he says I didn't know they made them in Silver, does it have the 4.6 engine.

After a ten minute discussion about Marauders and him sitting in it, he is on his way, nice guy that loves Marauders.

He is 6 foot 4 and hates his Taurus, misses his crown Victoria.

True story I have a witness.

I get dirty looks from my LEOs--- as the're stuck in Dodge HEMIs and a Tarus 4WD SHO....1 officer drives a "personal" CV, a DTR with pushbar.
I'm looking forward to the unnessary stops whenever I change my tint to the highest legal reflective silver I can buy....

I think that's the most common comment I hear "I didn't know they made them in other colors besides black", or "does that have the interceptor 5 oh"... smh.

The Panther platform was a vital part of law enforcement for so long, I'm not surprised that many LEOs miss it. I haven't heard much good about the replacements from most LEOs I've spoken with.

I hear good things about the new police package Exploder. CHP is going with them and I have now started seeing them on the road.

As far as the Ford PI Taurus, I thought Ford consulted with the police board to make what cops wanted? lol

Excellent outcome!
I've had envyous officers leave me with less money and still complimenting my car.
One sat next to me at a long traffic light and moved back and fourth looking at the interior....maybe my pillar gauges?

Was in UTAH State in '72-'73 working under Muffler rack...Utah HP officer came into shop and asked "what can you do to make this run faster?".He was driving a full size Dodge with the 440/auto package. In our area, officers were assigned a car-available to them 24/7.

We fixed him up with a set of hooker headers and re-ran his exaust with 2-1/2" pipe and Turbo mufflers.(this was just prior to manditory cats).

He returned 1 week later and had us install a larger Thermoquad carb with an Offenhouser manifold..he let slip that he was being "outrun" by an AMX on the long straight roads located just east of the Great Salt Lake in the area..(Ogden,Ut).

I guess he got his man because we never saw him again....

Great story.

I got pulled over once for absolutely no reason. I watched the cop as he walked towards me taking a look at my MM. He said "is this your car?" I said yes. Then he asked for my license and registration and gave it back to me and let me go. He never said why he pulled me over and I didn't ask. We both knew he just wanted to check out the Marauder.

I served on the Aux. Police in my town and was the pistol team captain. Every time I went to HQ with my Silver Birch, I collected a group of regular officers wishing that my car was their police cruiser. When I drive down the street, I often get a horn beep or a siren whelp and a hand wave. It is nice to be envied.

I just completed the academy over the summer and I love driving my MM to work (wearing full duty uniform/gear) after long weekends when I don't have my take home Charger. When I get out at the Wawa (Service station) jaws drop and I had fellow leos in PG County ask me how the heck did I end up with a Marauder as a squad and a silver one at that, lol. Back in 2008 when I was 22, a deputy down in Spotsylvania Co (VA) thought I was a juvenile driving (so he claimed) alone at 3am and stopped to make sure I was legit and even asked for a consent search. I let him and he just sat in the driver's seat for 10 seconds then asked me if I knew where he can buy a Marauder for himself, smh. 98% of cops I know love nice/fast cars:bows:

I worked at a Ford Dealer from 1969 to 1976, and the body shop (one mile away) from '72 to '76. I got to drive many different cars during the body shop period. I always remember the cars that most impressed me.

#1 was a pre-prep new 4 door with the 460 Interceptor option. It had an engine oil cooler heat exchanger on the intake manifold (connected to the cooling system), and a hand throttle on the dashboard for a high speed idle.

Back in 1974 and 1975 I worked at a Liberal, Kansas Ford dealer in the parts department on the shop counter. I took care of parts needs for 8 or 9 mechanics. Fun times and learned a lot of things.

In 1976 through 1978 I was employed as a Sheriff's Officer in Kingman County, Kansas. I had a 1976 LTD 460 police package as a patrol unit, man that big old boat would run. At that time one of our officers got a new Chevy Nova police package and we decided to see if the new Nova would outrun the Ford. On a back road 2 lane I was following the Nova at 110 mph (on radar) and told Jerry the driver to gas on it and he said that was all it would do, so I turned on my turn signal, passed him and left him like he was stopped. He was not happy with me and my LTD. Fastest I ever had it was 128 mph on radar and that is damned fast for a 5,000 lb car on General rag police radials. Also it got about 10 mpg on a good day.

returning home from Branson, Missouri, pulled off for gas / potty stop and was followed into the gas station by police package Explorer.....luckily enough the officer just wanted a closer look at the MM.....never had seen one in Dark Toreador Red.....he said how he missed his old Crown Vic cruiser but liked the room for "stuff" in the new Explorer.....life is good.......
