So I need to replace the worn REAR center mount sway bar bushings. I have the Addco sway bars. Addco sends me two metal brackets & bushings. The metal brackets are different from OEM brackets. I used the OEM mount brackets. The bracket they sent would work if I could drill a second mounting hole but not possiable. So originally I used OEM brackets. The new bushing are correct size but different shape they won't work. Anyone have part # ?

This is how I upgrade the rear bushing and made them greasable.

I found the Addco-supplied bushings to fit the OEM brackets, so I would suggest starting with their bushings rather than Energy Suspension bushings that don't fit.

Regardless, it is best to modify the bushings and OEM brackets to make them greasable. This requires drilling the bushing to allow grease through from a zerc fitting threaded into the OEM bracket to the inside diameter of the bushing. And threading a hole in the bracket for the grease fitting.

It will take an hour or two to do it correctly, not to mention procuring the tap and grease fittings. But the results are worth it: free, non-binding movement of the rear suspension and no squeaks.

I *think* I reused the factory bushings and brackets when I installed the Addco rear sway bar on the Blackbird. If not, i used the ones Addco supplied...either way, I used a bit of marine grease on them at time of install and have never had any issue...that was at least 8 years ago.

I was thinking why would you need them to be greaseable if the factory ones weren't. You just answered my question.

I have a set and plan on putting them on in the spring along with my Metco Watts link and Hurst roll control. Ran out of time this year.

I welded a 1/4" plate to the bottom of the mounts on the axle, drilled two holes, and bolted up energy suspension greaseable ones with Stainless hardware. I also used E.S. Links and threw that Addco crap in the garbage.

Also I noticed the bar moves latterly slightly so I picked up some Stainless 25MM lateral locks as well.

I think the best solution is suggested by Justbob. Weld two small 1/4" plates to mounting points & drill a two holes. Then mount the brackets & bushings sent from Addco. The OEM hardware & factory bushings must have been reused at installation of Addco bar.

Musclemerc can take the credit. I copied his. As for the Addco bushings, I won't waste my time. Advance Auto or Autozone sells the rear E.S. kit in stock I believe for $20.00. I'll get you the part # tomorrow if needed. Way better bushings..

justbob- Where did you get the stainless lock rings? I haven't noticed my rear bar moving, but they still sound like a good idea and I'd kinda prefer ss ones for the front bar instead of my aluminum ones.

(FWIW, I did my rear bar the same way you did and also reinforced the mounting points for its endlinks.)

Honestly don't recall. I do remember it was an import car parts website. Maybe I'm wrong and they are Aluminum? I really don't think so. Just google 25MM S.S. Lateral locks, that's all I did.

I would love the part numbers. This is a little over my head-- but am replacing to addico sway bar too, and want best new bushings. Thank you. I am amassing parts and doing it all at once.
