My Son's 2000 V6 Mustang just puked radiator fluid everywhere while he was on his way to work (college student). He texted me some pictures and it's seems weird that BOTH the top and bottom radiator hoses are sucked shut. What would cause that? He said he frequently checked the gauges after he left his apartment and was driving for approx 10 min before he noticed the guage spike to red and he pulled over then fluid went everywhere! :puke:

Stuck thermostat?

Thermostat or Radiator Cap?
Since the hoses "collapsed", should they be replaced?
It is the thermostat. Just replace it and inspect the hoses.

Thanks for the quick replies. He's getting a new fluid, cap, new thermostat, as well as some new hoses, too (while there is very little fluid left, good time to change them). AND, he opted to do it himself  (I'm 2.5 hours away, otherwise I'd help :(). Nice to see he's up for some wrenching! :P

I was told the head gaskets are suspect on the 3.8L and that failure will cause those symptoms.
My gal pal has a 2001 drop top and recently puked fluid through the over flow.
I got lucky and just burped the system, refilled the over flow bottle and have been keeping an eye on it constantly.

It turned out that the thermostat was the culprit. FBM called it! However, he went ahead and replaced the hoses and cap as a preventative measure. He'll be driving approx two hours in a couple weeks to see us. Don't want any issues! Thanks again for all the help!
