SO after 282,500 miles the Motor in the Marauder blew up. I did not realize that all of the monitors were shut off and I blamed a pinging condition on what I thought was bad gas a week ago. Long story short it was full of codes with no SES Light on and it appears the fuel pump was on its way out. Anyways my thoughts are to grab a Teksid short block out of a Mark VIII and swap the top end over and get the heads cleaned up, new timing parts, etc. It is my understanding that the rotating assy is just about the same as the stock lower end in our cars, can anyone verify that? Has anyone ever done this? Basically just looking for a quick solution to get the car up and running again for next season while I build a real motor. I can score a lower mileage Mark VIII Motor fairly inexpensive. Thoughts?

wow well it did its job. By building a new motor means cobra or mmr block forged internal super charger etc then just wait and do that.

Sorry to hear that, Paulie...that car certainly has a colourful history and I know Paul T. is up there watching and it'll be back better than ever.

It doesnt mean that lol. I just want to know if I will have any issues with teksid block and Mark VIII pistons with our heads. I am contemplating an LS Swap as well.

I am contemplating an LS Swap as well.

That would be cool. Would that not be a ton of work though?

Yes it would, I think I am going to just swap a Mark VIII short block in it for now. My father would have kept it all Ford, so I should too.

You made it further that me and I am suspicious of bad gas too but cannot prove it!!

Good Luck!!

Ok, spun bearing on number 2. I will pull and tear it down in the next few weeks and go from there.

Wow bummer Paul, sorry to hear about the car.
Is the car supercharged?
If it is using an '03-'04 Cobra lower intake, then the Teksid knock sensors will need to be removed and there is a little grinding to be done in the valley of the Teksid block. It's not a ton of grinding, and other than that you should have no issues with swapping C heads onto a Mark short block.
If the car has a stock intake then no grinding is needed, but the knock sensors still need to be removed as they interfere with the stock intake manifold.
Oil pump needs to be from a 2nd gen Mark, the early ones used the 2v oil pump. I use a brand new oil pump on all my builds no reason not to they are cheap enough. I know the Mark timing cover will work but the MM cover could work as well I'm not sure.
Marks C/R was 9.85 if I recall, not too far from MM.

No blower, I am going to pull in the next few weeks, tear it down and see what I am looking at, may just get a DSS Kit for it.

That many miles on the motor speaks volumes. Were things stut off due to a tune ?

All Monitors are shut off right now with current tune. But I now believe motor just spun bearing, lost oil pressure and shut fuel pump off resulting in codes. I think I am going to build a beefy NA Motor that can handle a 150 shot I think. Id like to go bottom 13s on motor and maybe high 11s on the bottle.
