There are two sensors one is the coolant temp sensor and the other the cylinder head temp sensor. Which side is driver's and passengers side. I have a check engine light because of one of these but I believe only one of them sets off the light. Is this true?

It is true. The one for the gauge is connected only to the gauge, not to the PCM.
Unfortunately, I can never remember which one is which and the FSM is unclear.

Coolant temp gauge sender/sensor is on driver side.
Cylinder head temp gauge sender/sensor is on passenger side.
Passenger-Pointy end
Driver-Flat end
The Passenger side tells the pcm what temp it is.
Drivers side feeds the instrument cluster.

Forgot I had to change the sensor. Which one sets the engine light off is it the driver's side? Would any of these below work.
