does anybody have any experience in replacing front bushings on front lower control arms?
I replaced mine last week (along with ball-joints and rear bushings) but the front bushing MOVED inside control arm. original bushing had groves on its rear end siggesting it was probably "secured" inside the arm body to prevent it from moving.
We didnt have the tool for this (if there is one), so me and my mechanic-friend decided that this is not really needed since the bushing was going in pretty tight.
Any advice on why it moved and is "securing" it in place really necessary?

Thanks in advance!

sorry about delay. so i put her on the lift a week after replacing all bushings and balljoints. noticed unusual gap between the front lip of the forward bushing on the front lower control arm. knowing that we pressed it all the way in, i was concerned if it moved before or after wheel alignment (performed the same day after replacment). so we put some black paint on the areas around both front bushings to see if the movement occurs again.
well yes, both bushings move back and forth almost constantly. see attached pictures.

so the question is -- how to secure bushings in place and where to get the tool for the job (or if anyone on this site has it)?
thanks!

I've pressed in and out those bushings before - not worth it.

The rubber bushing part should be able to flex some in the arm when the vehicle is rocked, but the inner metal should not be able to move at all within the control arm, and the outer metal should not be able to move at all in the subframe.

There is not really any tool to press them in and out, according to any service manual you read they should be serviced as the entire control arm. But a large hydraulic press can press them in and out.
