I simply woulld like to know how do I get rid of the governor on my MM? The other day I had the whole road to myself "On a private track of course";) and I was cruising at my average speed of around 80mph and put my foot in it and it got up and went:burnout: but it gave up at 120. I'm not very happy about that.http://www.4smileys.com/smileys/thinking-smileys/think_smiley_09.gif (http://www.4smileys.com) I'm used to driving my old department CVPI's and when you punch it you can bury the needle and its still gaining speed. I know its possible but I just need to know how it's done and is it expensive? Also are there any other not so expensive power adders that could get me cruising without breaking the bank?

I'm sure Martyo "Mo's Shop" A vender here can set you up with a tuner to turn off the Governor. :bows:
other good mods K&N or JLT cold air,410 gears,Stewart water pump is a good start.:)

Thanks man. I was just forced to rebuild my rear end and didn't have the cash to fork out for the 410 convert as bad as I wanted it. I was also looking at K&N before but just looked up the JTL you mentioned and its a lot more in my price range and looks better. Maybe I can get the better half to get me that for my birthday next week? Haha!

A tune with the limiter turned off will fix the top end, HP and drag will be your limitations then.

:2thumbs: Sounds like you got the MOD bug.:D
A tuner from MO or Lidio would help open it up & with better trans shifting ,Mine is only N/A & it's a monster.:D

Also JLT/PHP Spacer/Stewart Water Pump/Steeda Under Drive Pulleys will free up HP & drag on the motor & Granatelli Connectors will give more Durability/Reliability in the top end.:2thumbs:

Also are there any magic beans that can come close in comparison of expensive power adders that could get me cruising without breaking the bank like expensive power adders and the even more expensive additional and skies no limit supporting mods?

Cool thanks, while were at it, what's an LS motor?

Chevy LSX = Various LS series motors from GM. LS1, LS2, LS3 , LS7 for example. All are cam in block pushrod low tech motors. They work pretty well and have many aftermarket parts to support them. For example my 2006 Corvette has an LS2 engine.

just a heads up the if you're doing high (130+) speeds for a long time, the tailshaft seal commonly breaks from driveshaft vibrations, and can even lead to tailshaft failure

Before you have a tuner remove the speed limiters, to safely go drag limited you should make this mods: Forced lube trans tail-shaft, Aftermarket drive-shaft (DSS makes a good one), drive shaft safety loop and verify the speed rating of your tires.

^^^^^^ This is the correct answer to your question on N/A.

Stock speed limiting governer should limit vehicle speed to approx. 130mph +/- 2mph which should be no problem for any stock Marauder to achieve within a mile or two.

The main reason for the limit set at this speed is driveline and assosiated parts failure due to high speed vibration.

One mod mentioned here, steeper gears, ie 4.10's, would be a step in the wrong direction. As lower(numerically higher) gears will rapidly increase acceleration capability they also directly increase driveshaft speed per vehicle speed and as a result would lower the reasonable safe maximum speed that the vehicle should be driven. Also once highway speeds are achieved lower gears make only small differences in acceleration and vary with exact speed and gear options.

But as others have mentioned tuner will remove speed limiters in their tune, but be warned that the limiter is there for a safety reason and keep that in mind when exceeding the previously set limit.

Modifications to improve driveshaft and related components to prevent failure is important to think about if you desire prolonged travel in excess of the speed limiter.

Ensure that the driveshaft transmission slip yoke is in good condition.
Ensure that the transmission tailshaft housing bushing is not worn.
Consider a tailshaft forced lube mod to better lubricate the bushing.
Ensure that the driveshafe U joints are in good condition.
Upgrade to a MMC/Carbon fiber driveshaft to reduce vibration.
Installed a driveshaft safety loop to reduce possible damage in the event of a failure.
Ensure differential pinon bearings are in good condition.
Have driveshaft balance checked and balanced if needed.

For you specifically you should probably identify why the vehicle stopped at 120mph. My bone stock 239hp rated 2003 P71 has no problem getting to 130mph, it takes a little while but gets there none the less. As I said earlier any marauder should be able to get to the 130 limit easily.

Did it slowly give out as it worked up to 120 or did it feel like it was going to keep going then stopped all of a sudden at 120?

If its the former its more likly that drag and lack of power are the cause. If its the latter it is possible the limiter is set differently than most.

I hit 120 and it was like hitting a wall. It just gave out and stopped accelerating and I could feel the RPM's bouncing keeping it at 120. I also had 3 P71's (94-99-03) and none of them hit the wall my Marauder does. They just went til there was no more to give.:burnout:

Hmm. Sounds like the limiter then. Interesting.
