Why so cheap? It has a salvage title and the engine has a rod knock. Not a bad one and it doesn't even make noise until reaching operating temperature. But it has a rod knock none the less. I had big plans to work on this car but my father has been diagnosed with a terminal disease and I need to move out of state to help take care of him.

She has 128k miles and aside from the driver's rear seat bottom motor (not the recline) everything works. Comes with original floor mats, owner's manual packet, window sticker, both original keys (including gray valet key), 2 new and programmed gray keyless fobs, and a brand new tint job (limo on the back windows, legal on the front). Trunk has a small dent that would be covered if you installed the factory spoiler.

I've wanted one of these cars ever since they came out but I guess now just isn't the time.:(

I'll have a gallery of pics up on Monday.

Here is the only pic I currently have:

Does the knock sound go away when giving a little bit of gas?

Not really... When the engine is cold it makes no noise at all. After it warms up the tap is there at idle. Once the engine is tapping you can make it kinda go away when driving by playing with throttle position (like a little more throttle can make it quieter). The tap becomes very noticeable above 2500 RPM.

I should also add: If anyone is thinking about buying this car, speak up soon. I'm getting estimates for rebuilding it and just taking it and my Miata with me when I move.

That sounds like a valve trian / valve guide tick on the left head

The motor thing could be an issue, but as far as the title issue.. If you're wanting it to keep it, then there is no problem. I have a rebuilt title on my Marauder and I could care less because I'm not planning to get rid of it. It's just an easy way to save bunch of money on your dream car as long as there are no major issues with the frame. Thats just my opinion though. You could probably really get a deal on that car if you try hard enough. Good luck to you.

O/P, have you done a compression check (specifically on #8)?
