View Full Version : Selling or keeping yours in the near future?

WOW I am surprised by how many long-time members are selling their cars. I understand the desire for something new and quicker but if you have kept the car this long why all of the sudden the huge flow of great cars for sale?

I tried a while to keep up having quick cars but I just have less cash than many. If I kept chasing for that quicker car I would be perpetually broke and always unhappy.

I enjoy the Marauder for what it is. I keep my cars for a long time and have no desire to leave the site or sell my car anytime soon.

It seems that the same is happening to the Marauder that happened with the 94-96 Impalas when they reached the 10 year old mark.

Lets see how many will remain after the flood of sales pending.

As a family man, other priorities have come first vs. a go-fast show queen I barely have time to enjoy.

I sure hope to keep mine (going on 11 years), at this point I think it would be silly for me to try to replace it with something else as I am still raising kids and need a decent business car which fits both my needs (as well as is fiscally responsible). Hopefully in the near future I can keep it but replace the daily driving with something new or newer.

I wont be selling mine, I have way too much money into that I will never get back. I hope to give it to my daughter to drive when the time comes, if she will even want the old hooptie by then. I would love to pick up the marauders that have been going up for sale as of late....someone will be getting an amazing deal.

I'm not an MM owner, but looking at my 03 TBird, I barely use it, and when anything goes wrong, the dealer welcomes me with open arms.

But, I just can't get off the dime to sell this own owner, 22,000 mile garage queen

The hassle I went through selling my daughter's 99 Mustang back in 2008 was a big PITA. Shysters, crooks, buyers that were willing to buy the car for X dollars and never asked to drive it!.

One sleazeball tried to tell me he was looking for a car for his daughter, but really didn't need to drive the Mustang (?????).

Not selling mine. Might give them away. Still plan on getting buried on one of mine. I can understand the age thing and parts thing. If my wife got rid of old things with bad parts I would be first on her list.

Keeping mine for as long as possible, then passing it down to a close family member.

"Keep em in da Family".

Excellent ride, that I finally was able to own several years back (2009), & rare to boot!

Not too many Rauders here in Honolulu.

I get whiplash when I see another & makes me feel so good that I have one cool ride.

Well, I sold my first Marauder about 5 years ago, and regretted it every moment since. Now that I have Marauder number 2, I will keep it I until I can't drive anymore. It won't be my only car, just my favorite.

Plus, I'm planning on being around when all of the older Marauder owners estates sell their parts hoard for pennies on the dollar. No offense to the older guys here.

Will be keeping mine as along as the sun shines...actually I will be preserving it for my 10 years old grandson who hate my Marauder. No major mods unless he decides he wants to when he takes over. And hopefully it will be part of the family for a very long time. I have owned it for 4 1/2 years >>>July 2010

Mine will not have a second owner. Ever.

With all of this talk about hard to find parts, NOW is the time when we have the most parts available. So, the time to drive it, break it and fix it could not be easier now.

It's not like Ford will suddenly care enough to start producing parts in 20 years from now. They would rather sell you a new car, than keep fixing/maintaing your old one.

Preserve it for what? To look at?

No thanks!

Do I love it? Yes! But I'm not a rich man and I still have LOTS of cars to check off my list before I head north...

Owned mine for exactly one year. Wondered what they were like, test drove and bought mine on a whim. Love it ever since.
Over the first boredom of winter storage last year, I broke my own pact to leave it as I bought it.
I aquired the parts, shipped to Georgia and did the required Eaton swap, plus headers.
It made the car so much meaner, plus the original cool factor - I love it more!
So, would I sell?
Probably. If something else bad az$ became an affordable option.
My disease, not a reflection on the Marauder.
It's all in the chase.....

My faith is being restored. I still see some are still very passionate. I hope some get the big money they want. If they do it makes ours more desirable. Those that do sell their cars. The cars are not gone. Other people will get to experience what we love and their is nothing wrong with that. Those that sell their cars please stick around on the site. We are still car people and might still like what you replaced it with.

Cool way of looking at it. I would stay active on this site. Best ppeople on any forum.
I sold a 4th gen Formula and dropped out of ls1tech.com
then I bought another f-body, and only used their classifieds. no friendliness.
I highly doubt I'll sell mine, more likely sell my daily driver and buy another, newer muscle car.
I have never owned a car (owned hundreds of cars) that always makes my get a rush when I see it. Even when it was down, I went frantic to make it right.
I think I love it more than my lust for other cars.

Unless someone offers me 30,000 I'll just take that money go buy another one and build even better. I like a lot of cars also but I have a marauder because out of all those cars I like Marauder the best so therefore there will never be a reason for me to sell my car. I even bought a second medium Marauder jacket hoping that when my son gets his drivers he will want a marauder also. if not when I die I will tell my son to look after it and never get rid of it.

My Blue has been in storage for 2 months and I haven't thought about it once.

My Black car is impractical and I wouldn't mind it going away.

Problem is, I will never get what they are worth to me.

Same here. I traded my first one in for a new 2012 Mustang GT Premium. Sure it was faster, by a lot, cooler in its own right, everything was new and not out dated. But in the end, it was a Mustang, there are tons of them around.
The Marauder may be a panther, but it's more than that. With so few in existence and all the differences that set them apart from the millions of MGMs and CVs, I missed it too much. Sold my Mustang and started searching for another Marauder. Found it, the build begins now.

I'll never forget stopping to fill up at a gas station, a guy literally came over to my pump and started laughing and shaking his head. Then turns to me and asked why I wasted so much money putting an exhaust and chrome rims on an "old beat up cop car." Actually made me mad because there wasn't a scratch or ding on it and had just spent 3 hours the night before waxing and polishing everything up.

^^^^^^ good info for me right there. Latest and greatest won't always be best overall. Just looking at 2015 GT Mustangs. I've posted before - all summer, 6000 miles, only other Marauders I saw were 2 I went to look at for purchase.
I bet in 2-5 short years, they are even more obscure to the masses.

I had sold mine for some reason's that at the time needed to. A very good friend helped me by buying it from me and put it in storage. Drove it to keep things up. He said it is yours when you want it back. I had picked up a 2004 Mach 1 and a Shelby (baby one). But we just new they where not the Marauder. Some may know about me and the history behind the car. The bottom line is like some one said Mustangs are great car but a lot of them. Not everyone has and have seen a Marauder. And when they see the S/C on it they sure want to know about them. We have it back and it is going to stay. Going to do some up grades to make it just a little better.

I am looking at other low production number cars.
There were only 1349 CTSV wagons between 09-13 built.
The 67 Comet (1st choice right now) had a build number of around 6000 units.
The big block cars which is my quest were a small portion of the 6000, almost 50 yeas later they are like hens teeth.

Same with the 53 Stude.

I have owned the MM for 5 years, second longest time I have ever owned a car. The longest was my Mark 8.
I have owned many special interest cars through the years but I have lived in hurricane prone areas most of my adult life.

Living where I live you have to be prepare to take your special interest cars and run in the event of a big hurricane.
It was heartbreaking to see the collectible iron leaving here on car carriers after hurricane Wilma, interiors full of seaweed. Cobras, model As and Ts. XKEs.
There was something like a 90% loss of all vehicles that remained here after the evacuation call. Me, I was in Savannah...

My new garage will be on a 3' mound, putting it 2' above my home. It has to be 180 mph wind rated to meet code here, even doors and windows. Then maybe, just maybe I will go back to owning more than one special car at a time.

^^^^^^^Mine is a daily driver as well and now has 159,000 and I still enjoy the car as basic as it is compared to the updated options we have now. (Didn't know the V-Wagon was THAT rare!) I want a newer, faster car that's close to 4/500+ hp that's turn-key (well push key nowadays, lol) ready. These are cars that ought to be kept because folks on here that have sold DO regret it and the proof is on you screeen.

11-22-2014, 10:54 AM
Nope! With all the newer cars out there and the power they are coming from off the showroom floor with and the fact it's easier to mod them because they have aftermarket love I do think of getting rid of the marauder, but I'm not rich, and my Marauder is almost paid off. With a hurt motor and the parts for an eaton, tvs or whipple swap laying around I figure why not just build it to be faster than what they are now making for a lot cheaper and enjoy not paying payments. Just getting in hit the gas and smile

I don't think I''ll ever sell my Marauder, 207,000 km and still puts a smile on my face every time I fire it up, On the long haul,or just back and forth to work, it is truly a pleasure to drive, and I never get tired of looking at it, Not bad in the snow either,

Just drove mine 3 hours today. Added 1 degree of timing 2000-4000 rpm, leaned air / fuel by 2 at WOT - car is an animal with steady 11.0 afr under full boost.
John Force crowd pleasers from a 30 mph roll. Pretty much does nothing wrong.
I think the car stays :)

On 12/17/14 I will have owned mine for 10 years. drive it as much as I can, have lil over 56k on it. Have had it up on jack stands for past few weeks showing her some love. I'm very pleased with how well everything looks, not trying to rust and no appreciable wear found. I am looking forward to driving my Marauder for another 10 years.

I love this car. Its unlike Mustangs and.Camaros, it doesn't age. Simply because it never evolved. Like James Dean, it will always be cool.

After having owned mine for almost 7 years, I sold it back in June at the fords at Carlisle show. Bought it for $20,000 in 07 with 6400 miles, sold it with 33,000 miles for $14,000.

Sometimes I regret it, most days I don't. I was only putting about 4000 miles per year on it, I spend most of my summers driving one of my 3 mustangs, I almost felt paranoid about driving the MM, seeing how people don't know or respect what it is, especially after coming out one day, and finding a huge scuff - hit and run - on the rear bumper, and I was parked in an end spot away from everyone.

If the weather is bad I drive my truck, and here in New England it seems the past few summers have been very tropical with late afternoon pop up thunderstorms. Combine this with long winters, the cars are put away for 6 months of the year, and then try to divide the remaining nice days between 4 cars and two trucks, something had to give, and for me the mustangs are more valuable / sentimental to me than the MM was.

I purchased my 2004 Marauder new for my wife to replace a 1996 Impala SS. I loved the car from day one and when it came time for my son to drive I bought a second 2004 Marauder. Interesting note- both cars were sold by the same Lincoln/Mercury dealer equipped exactly the same with a sunroof and the VIN #'s are off by 5 digits. One is black and one is silver both bone stock down to the last bolt including B.F. Goodrich g-Force KDWS tires. I owned many great cars in my life but I must say my Marauder stands out as the best overall car. I own two Corvettes since new, one being a 2002 Z06 which has always put a smile on my face yet my Marauder is the do all ultimate highway star. I watched my son's face when he came home from college and drove his black Marauder for the first time with great joy! He has driven my silver original owner car many times and knows this car well yet he turned to me driving on the Long Island Expressway and said " I think mine is faster". Yeah kids

I just paid mines off this year and at 160k I have NO complaints. Have a few glitches like this weird cruise control issue, infamous LCM, and the fact that my car has seen the body shop more than a repair shop (actually being only at the dealer twice for warranty work, EATC & Ride contol air pump) , due to the excellent DC area drivers. I've never owned anything this long and I can't believe it runs as well as it does for something I put 130k miles on myself. Hibernation time for now and this car deserves a break from this winter. I hope to only add another newer, faster muscle car to the collection and not replace. I will only sell this car for a Supercharged 04' with a moonroof in either of the three 04 colors or a low mileage DBP/ or any trilogy for that matter since some folks on here are getting bored with theres and are more and more frequently popping up for sale. I'd love to mod mines but I think the cheapest route is to replace your Marauder with a better Marauder imho.

The only way I would consider selling is if I found an already Eaton swapped car or ESPECIALLY a Trilogy equipped car. Otherwise, I am slowly making plans to accumulate Eaton swap parts.

Mine isn't going anywhere, unless someone comes up with a large stack of cash and makes me not want it anymore. In that case, i'll just buy two more :D

I did just buy a G8, but the Marauder will remain my garage queen/show car. And I still have plans to blow her once it's paid off.
