The 2271-72 are hollow bars. The 2196 and 650 are solid bars. The hollow bars are lighter but more susceptible to damage if you run over something. Most people I know here are using the solid bars.
+1 on www.NeverEnoughAuto.com (http://www.NeverEnoughAuto.com) for good prices. If you hunt arounf they sometimes have a discount code. I found one on a Nissan forum years ago.

I'd recommend the solid bars.
Why? Our cars could use the extra weight?

Straight from Addco's website:
"11. What is the difference between Solid and Tubular anti-sway bars?
If you compare two bars of the same diameter, one solid and the other tubular, the solid bar will always be stiffer by typically 20%-30%. The advantages of a solid anti-sway bar are that it is less expensive and stiffer than a tubular bar. Tubular bars can be designed to offer the same output as a solid bar but the diameter will be greater. Ultimately this leads to a weight savings of approximately 40% but it is more expensive."

First of all, nobody here has A/B compared solid vs tubular. You have what you bought, and that is the only aftermarket sway bar you've tried. That goes for me too, of course. I never claimed the hollow bar was somehow mysteriously "better", especially as I have not tried both. I simply noted hard specs from Addco; less weight and a similar rate.
Yes, the tubular sway bar is a larger diameter than the solid bar. Read the specs.
You know nearly all performance and race cars use hollow sway bars?

There are many automotive components that have well-proven advantages. Almost always the advantages come at a price. Fixed-piston brake calipers, four valves per cylinder, etc. Nobody in their right mind would argue these are inferior to their cheap alternatives.
Don't see anything different here. Well-know differences in tech at a different price point.
