Go with an xcal from Mo's. You get a lot more out of it that way. If you just buy a tuner from ebay or summit or something it just gives you a generic map. Get one from Mo's and you get a dyno map from a Marauder... not to mention support and a great guy behind it.

Yup, MO's Speed Shop or Lidio from Alternative Automotive. Both are vendors here and most importantly, both are experts as well as standup guys. You can't go wrong with either of them.

Question.... If I purchase a tune from let's say Mo's, do I have to go to the shop to have it downloaded or is it more of a Prom swap like in the 80's and 90's with Hypertech Chip? I don't want to mess with a tuner.

I also read somewhere here that a tune is mainly changing the transmission program. Is this accurate, because my O/D sucks. I believe I have what was called Chuggle. The converter cant figure out if it needs to be locked or not.

It is done thru a SCT device that you buy with tune if you don't have an xcal device. You plug it in the obd port . No you do not have to go to Mo's shop . It will add around 20 hp and yes change the shifting to much improved

I have searched and asked without any technical answer.
I had a Lidio tune when my car was stock with 4.10 gears. it ran great, more crisp performance and the transmission upshifts, lock up, and even down shifting were very nice compared to stock confused shifting. Also, WOT shift points were raised.
Since my supercharger, I have Mo's tune.
At first, the transmission shifting was more like stock again, but after they sent me tunes based on my driving, the shifting is dreamy.
Anyone should call Mo's and talk to Marty, explain what YOU want the car to drive like, then buy his XCAL/tune. Best support after the sale.
