These look grey... might want to check with the seller(s) first.

That is why I said to check with the seller(s) as pictures on the computer are not a true representation.

Check locksmiths and hardware stores.

this seller has Lincoln ones, maybe they can locate a Mercury one. . .

I looked several years ago and it seemed no one was making the Mercury logo one. The Lincoln one, but not the Mercury one. The valet key just doesn't have the programable RFID chip in the head...sooo, I thought about taking a Mercury logo transponder key and painting it grey and then just not programming it to the car. A lot of work to just have an inoperable logo key. I'll bet there's a bunch of Marauder valet keys sitting in previous owners sock drawers...lol

I had thought about doing that too.

I thought the Valet key just wouldn't operate the trunk or glove box? All I have is a Valet key, and that's how mine seems to work, what's the deal with the RFID chip, I know it's not needed for those two locks.

The Valet key has the same RFID function as a regular key, the only difference is that it's blade is too wide to fit in some of the locks.

Question does the valet key lock and unlock the trunk from the door

Question does the valet key lock and unlock the trunk from the door

Are you talking about the trunk release button in the driver's door panel. If so then no the valet key will not unlock that button. When I bought mine all I got was the Valet key and the trunk button was locked so the only way I could open the trunk was to use the remote and I only got one of those too.

Might want to check the dealership for the valet key blank. I don't know if they still sell any Mercury branded stock, but I'd be somewhat surprised if they got rid of it all.

You can get it cut anywhere, and if you have 2 working keys, you can also program it yourself.

Here's one on ebay right now (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROTUNDA-PATS-KEY-VALET-MERCURY-164-R0465-/251783357573?pt=Motors_Car_Tru ck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a9f752485&vxp=mtr)

If the valet key wasn't programmed, the valet would not be able to drive your car. That won't work...

I believe that you are wrong. I have mine and I can drive my car with it. You just can not open the trunk. And unlock the trunk button on the door.

It must be programmed to that PATS module, then. If it wasn't programmed, the car would not start. An un-programmed key, or key without a chip cannot possibly start a PATS equipped car.

If you got one of those thin Ford keys without a chip - you can get the car to unlock if it is cut properly, but you will never be able to start it.

I just know it came with the car when we picked it up new.

You are correct.

Correct again.
All new MM's came with two regular keys and one valet key.

My point was that if the key was not a chipped key, or was not programmed to the car.....it wouldn't start the car......that was all.
