Hi guys,

Please as always I need your help with the SOUND of my Exhaust to be reduced ! I'm running an X-pipe with deleted cat and second grade muffler.

But for the car CHECK UP they said it's loud and need to be reduced, but actually the sound is not that loud but they are extremely restricted about it.

So I need a simple trick to reduce it temporary, I know that put in back the cat is reducing it but I want a cheaper way not to welding or touching the Exhaust.

What do you guys think for a MISS FIRE !! is it safe to run it a few miles ?
I think it well reduce it a bit right :bs: !

Thank you guys and
I really want your help cause they well not pass the car :( sorry for my BAD explanation.

The easiest way to do a temp quiet down of the car would be to have some resonators installed behind the X-pipe but in front of the mufflers. Really no other way to quiet the exhaust down without touching the exhaust system. Do you still have the stock mufflers?

A misfire could cause more harm than good.

Misfire will make it sounds worse.

Maybe a few riyals under the thawb and a bottle of Arak will get it passed.....

I think it well reduce it a bit right :bs: !I wouldn't do it...misfiring unbalances the engine and that can cause other problems. Might be safe for a few miles, but I don't think it will reduce the level, it will just make it sound different.

Fab yourself a couple restrictor plates that you can put between the exhaust flange(if you still have one) Simply unbolt the flat flange from the cat/downpipe and the mid pipe. Install a properly shaped piece of sheet metal with a 1" hole in each side to severly restrict exhaust.

When your all done with the inspection remove the restrictor plates.

Simplest way I can think of without actually modifing the existing exhaust. Dont know if it'll get it quite enough to pass but I imagine it will.

hope I helped - good luck.

Can you add tip resonators? Many MM owners have removed theirs so you may be able to buy/borrow a pair if needed.

What do you mean by "behind the X-pipe but infront of the mufflers" ? Do you mean at the last of the exhaust !? I wish if I have the stock one :(

If you said so then I'll never do it !

The problem sir that they're going under the car so they can see any suspicious thing in the car down there :dunno:

Yes I still have them. What about the resonators ! it's better to remove them to quite the sound a little !!?

What do you think of this guys.

Drill two very small holes in your tailpipe, about 10 inches from the end.

Shove a wad of steel wool into the tailpipe. The wad of steel wool should go in as far as the holes that were drilled. The steel wool will work as a damper to absorb some of the sound without a dramatic effect on the vehicles performance.

Thread the wire into one hole, through the steel wool and out the other hole. Twist it around the tail pipe to secure it.

Please guys I need your thoughts.

I think the restrictive plates will be the least noticeable to anyone. Try that first it also sounds the easiest for you rather than drilling holes and shoving steel wool inside.

Same thoughts ^^ Use thin metal cut to the same outer dimension of the gasket. (Which BTW are just grand marquis gaskets on our cars so don't be fooled by anyone) No welding, two $3 gaskets, and possibly four new stainless bolts and nuts. This could be done on your back in under an hour..

This^^^. Youll need tin snips, a hole saw or large sized drill bits and a tin coffee can, or two.

So I have to buy a GM flange gasket (https://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=446880&cc=1387829) and install it in, no fab needed. Is that the right thing to do?
or I have to do as you guys said "restrictive plates" !!? Which one please ?
