I never did it, but I know you need to pull the dash.

I did this on 2000 GMQ . Ipulled the front seat out ,pulled the carpet back, took dash down.Didn't mess with unhooking steering. It can little tight but not bad to do just time needed to get it right. Good luck ,I will post pic if i can find .

Basically you will be tearing the entire dash out and swearing a lot.
Good luck getting it all back together

Sounds like a huge pain. Is this for your newly acquired MM?

3 points, 1, yes this for my newly acquired Marauder, I think the lack a being driven caused the Core to prematurely go bad, 2, I noticed a water substance dripping from the underside of the car by the drivers side firewall area, it seemed to do this only after I turned the heater on, and stop when I turned the system off. I also noticed when I turned it back on the next day, that condensation developed on the inside of the windshield, (moisture in the ducts). Point 3, I will not be performing the work myself, it would not be conducive to my mental health.

P.S. I will confirm with my Mechanic on the diagnosis.

Amen to that!
I'd have a mechanic tackle that heater core job also, does not look fun at all.

Attached is the PDF illustrating replacing the heater core for the panther series. More Time consuming that difficult. I've done one on my CV and the Marauder will be next after the holidays.

I'd replace the blend door actuator while your in there. Be sure to get a genuine Ford actuator or you'll be doing the job again.

+1 on replacing the blend door actuator prophylactically. You sure the drip isn't condensation from the AC drip tube? "auto" mode can turn on the AC, and condense moisture on the evaporator leading to fog on the windshield at startup.

I always thought heater core leaks were a result of corrosion and not maintaining fresh coolant. After having changed a couple of them on my own cars (that had the coolant replaced) I'm not so sure anymore.

If your phone used this instead of proactively, that means you have used it one or numerous times in the past.

No words for this one!

Actually, lifespeed's use of the word "prophylactically" is correct. In adverbial form it means "preventatively".

03vegas, you may not have a bad heater core. With the rain and high humidity we had here the past week, we are not used to the humidity being blown out the ducts on first startup of the AC. The MM's left outside do it, the one in the garage doesn't. A bad heater core when it fogs the windshield should leave a light film behind and you get an antifreeze smell. The dripping from below is the AC system removing the moisture from the incoming air before sending it through the system (supposedly to help prevent bacteria rom growing inside the system). This water drips out (usually right on the cat causing an intermittant sizzling noise when stopped).

If you do need a core, the manual says to remove the center console for more room. This is not necessary, but I put a heavy moving blanket across the front seat bottoms and console before pulling the dash (same for changing blend door actuators). This prevents damage to the front ends of the console and the lower edge of the dash and seat covers. I don't know of many shop mechanics take this extra step to prevent damage. Your car is super nice. Text me if you want to go over it.

Thanks for the feedback guy's, after some time to think about the issue, I turned the heater on this weekend, but just on floor setting, and I'm going to keep an eye on the floor under the dash. I don't know about Marauders, but other cars that I've owned with leaking heater cores will leak on the floor board. Also when I first saw the leak, I touched the water and did a smell test, I could not smell anything at all, plus on my finger, I did not notice any color. I will continue to monitor the situation.

Marauder has a drain at the bottom of the heater/AC box on the outter half (engine side). Drains the AC condensation and coolant if the core leaks. It can get clogged, but then you would have wetness on the passenger upper carpet with the AC on in the summer on humid days. Seems when the humidity and dew point get close together the fog happens. Dosen't do that except maybe a few days a year in LV.

Reminds me of a funny story. I was hanging out with a few guys and buddy did a burnout with his mustang, turned around at the top of the street came back and he parked walked over to a puddle and put his finger in it.

Then proceeded to smell it taste it and tell us it wasn't oil, antifreeze, tranny or brake fluid.

I had to stand back a good distance before I told him I had taken a piss beside his car earlier. ;) Damn Budweiser goes right thru me.
