Hi guys it's been a while since I posted here. I've been really busy with Army training and schools and now that I have some down time I wrecked my car. Long story short I wrecked the car on the 10th talked to the adjuster today and they're only offering me 5k for the car. The car was in excellent condition had 62k on the odometer supercharged great paint and a lot of other upgrades done to the engine such as headers and such. The damage is estimated at 15k and I can get the car back plus about 3k in cash. I'm just not sure what to do I can't really fix the car if it actually cost that much to fix but there is no way I could in my right mind take only 5k for the car.

sorry for the loss of car...I would promptly look thru the auto trader etc. online to show proof of what marauders are listed for with similar miles and shape. You prolly wont recoup the supercharger/extras cost unless they were part of the agreed insured value..They will use bluebook values and you do not have to accept the offer..play hardball..they are looking to get off as cheap as possible. Other memebrs here have gotten their claims raised by $5k and more by giving proof of rarity if you have ford certificate, and what others are selling for.

Your supercharger set up since it is complete eaton swap prolly would fetch $3000? $3500 possibly?

+1 NEVER take their "offer". Always consider their "offer" 1/3 of what they will actually pay.. Talk to someone else and make it very clear you won't stand for that. Here's another good one. Have them locate an identical car and purchase it as a replacement. That should help with the numbers. Who's your carrier??

Ask them how they determined that figure? Don't accept it..You should easily be able to double that and as Just bob said, possibly even more. I'm telling you to get a list of available today cars in the states or if any in Hawaii and tell them/print them, email them the prices of the car in today's market. everything costs more in Hawaii, how come they are not ?

The insurance company is NEVER your friend.
62k supercharged should fetch 12-14k less your deductable.
Keep fighting, they are simply haggling. This is exactly why I only go with agreed value policies............

Wait a minute. Is this Bawazirs old car he sold to someone on here then you bought it? The one with a salvaged title? If so, I can start to see where they were getting their starting number from.

Unless he notified the insurance company of the upgraded engine
(ie higher premium paid for it), he is not entitled to the extra $$
from the insurance company. You should remove the Supercharger
as it is yours and doesn't come with the car.

Check list prices in your area for similar Marauders and since they are so rare, also check list prices for similar luxury sedans. Make sure you make it clear its a limited production vehicle and not so easily replaced.
Definetly buy the car back - it may not be worth repair but it certainly has more value than the insurance company thinks.

If you are in Hawaii you can make a strong case for more $. It is likely that their own rules require they use Marauders of similar mileage and condition in the same AREA to determine the value. I believe that is State Law. It is extremely unlikely you'll find a SC MM in similar condition for sale in HI. Therefore, you need to find similar MMs in the Mainland and you can make the case they need to account for shipping to HI.
I know, bc I went thru this. I think I got $12K for my 03 MM with 90K miles and no SC.
Do a bunch of research. Understand what their rules are. Also, make sure you get a copy of the vehicle assessment. It is likely it contains errors that undervalued the car.

The insurance policy is a legal contract. I have never hear of one that says you served you get paid more or less.
From Wikki - "The United Services Automobile Association (USAA) is a Texas-based Fortune 500[4] diversified financial services group of companies[5] including a Texas Department of Insurance regulated[6] reciprocal inter-insurance exchange and subsidiaries offering banking, investing, and insurance to people and families that serve, or served, in the United States military. At the end of 2013, there were 10.1 million members.[3]
USAA was founded in 1922 by a group of U.S. Army officers to self-insure one another when they were unable to secure auto insurance due to the perception that they were a high-risk group.[7] USAA has since expanded to offer banking and insurance services to past and present members of the Armed Forces and their immediate families."
USAA is a good company, although they do some things differently. As has been suggested you have the right to know the basis for the amount they are offering you.
In one case with USAA they advised they were offering me what the ads showed they were selling for, problem it was the wrong model.
I also got them to include sales tax I would have to pay ot replace it.

That was not the OP intended comment. It was more like; because USAA touts itself as a mostly military and military family friendly company, that he wouldn't get the shaft on his first offer of what the car is worth.

On point of thread = my brother has the same military insurance, and they gave him over value on his 93 Park Avenue Ultra - because excellent condition, and how hard to replace a supercharged one like it. He spent time talking to the adjuster.
We did find a newer Ultra with the pay out, hopefully you will too.

Well, a supercharged MM might be worth money.
But it also represents additional risk for the insurance company because your car has (had) way more performance than they thought they were insuring.
My hunch is your policy states they don't have to cover your car if it was modified for increased performance. Hmmmm. Your $5,000 offer could evaporate.
Also, the R-title kills the car's value. Doesn't matter who fixed it or what a great job they did, you're still stuck with a branded title.
Sorry this doesn't sound like good news for you.
As somebody above said, stated value coverage is great protection for cars that aren't like the ones found in a blue book!
Thank you for your service to our country; USAA enjoys a solid reputation and I hope they live up to it for you. Just be aware they likely weren't aware they were insuring a supercharged Marauder so they won't be replacing yours with one that is! Also, the R-title will ding you.
But find some MM's in HI or factor in shipping from the mainland and see if you can get a better number. Also, see if an alternate route to repairs might be your best solution. Perhaps there's a high-mile GM or CV looking for your drivetrain and interior?
Good luck.

"My hunch is your policy states they don't have to cover your car if it was modified for increased performance." - I doubt that is the case unless they notified you of a specific endorsement when you purchased the insurance.
Check your policy and see if that wording is in it.
If they asked you when you applied about performance mods and you answered no they may have a basis for not covering same.
Every auto policy I have read excludes coverage while racing in a pre-organized contest. The definition of racing can be broad and include while you are in the pitts.

good research!;)
TFB posted this about title and insurance:
"Bad is it has rebuilt title (actually there is no such info on the VA title) due to a tree falling on it in '08, so some insurance co may not want to give full coverage... I didn't have any issues with State Farm, gave them the VIN and they did a inspection at their office and that was it... "
Sad, sounds like it was a deal of a car! Maybe the title in HI is clean?

In many insurance policies "Stated Value" is a limitation on the most they will pay and not necessarily the "Agreed Amount".
Many that do offer "Agreed Amount" have use restrictions on mileage, commuting, where it is kept, etc.
Ask them to provide the value definition.
