View Full Version : Radio not working after battery disconnect

I disconnected my battery this weekend to clean my MAF and when I reconnected, the radio now doesn't work. It's a 6L8T-18C815-FD 6 disk changer from a 2007 Ford Escape Limited.

The radio turns on normally but I get no sound from AM/FM or Ford Sirius unit, and my CD player says "Disk Error" (or something like that). I went to eject a disk and I get disk moving sounds but no disk. I had no problem going through the radio menu to reset the clock. It's the strangest thing since everything else in the car seems fine.

Any ideas?

When I disconnected my battery last year I had a similar issue with the power steering sytem. Disconnect the battery again and let it sit for at least 10 minutes and then reconnect. Damn Gremlins.

That's what I was thinking but figured I'd ask anyway. I didn't have the opportunity to do it at work. I'll try it tomorrow. Thanks.

Sounds like the radio pre-sets have been wiped. Re-set all your radio channels.

I'm not sure how radio presets would cause my CD player to malfunction and no sound to come out of any sound generating source, but anyway...

A battery disconnect and reconnect flushed this guy out:

Glad you got it fixed but there really is no reason to disconnect your battery just to clean your MAF
