Hello!
My name is Alex. I come from Germany. I owned several US Cars in the last years and now I´m probably going to buy one of only 5 Marauders registered here in Germany. So I got some questions. Could you guys give me some instructions about what I have to check on this car.
What Crown Vic parts f.e. would fit to the Marauder in case that they would need to be exchanged?

Best Regards!

Alex

Most Vic and Marquis body panels (doors, hood, trunk lid) will fit. Bumper covers are unique to the car, headlights are unique in their tint but a Marquis headlight from the same era will fit. Header panel from a Marquis of the same era will also fit. What I'm saying is that cosmetic parts are common, save for the bumper covers.

My pal over there is also considering this car. It has some cosmetic defects such as a cracked taillight, scuffs, etc. that I could see in the pictures.

First thing I would check is the coolant crossover pipe (do not open the coolant reservoir!!!) and make sure there is clean coolant in there. Check for smoke from the tailpipes on a cold start. Check oil and trans fluid for color and burnt smells. May also remove the coil covers (incredibly easy) and check for oil pooling down around the spark plugs...this would require removal of the valve covers to replace the grommets/gaskets.

If you're reallllllllllllllly feeling like giving it a thorough check, do a compression test.

Other than that, check the obvious stuff - leaks, smells, rattles, etc.

Also, and I told my friend this as well...I think this car is grossly overpriced (by at least $2000), even with it being 1 of 5 over there. Even with import fees/taxes, I think you can get a nice/nicer Marauder from the States imported over there for equal or lesser money. I base this statement on what I was told those fees are.

I already know about the taillight, scuff etc. as the seller told me.
It´s not only about the fees. You have to change some things on the car to get a german registry. Such things as headlights f.e.
Also, the car is equipeed with a liquid propane gas "unit" which saves 40% of mileage. Depending on these facts I think the price is ok.
Thank you for your support...

As indicated, many parts from a Crown Victoria are interchangeable. Also, there are certain components from Ford Mustangs that are interchangeable or easily adaptable.
Good luck.

When it decides to come back online, there's a guy on CrownVic.net from Germany who just bought a 2004 Black Marauder. His screen name is "MG Driver" and his Marauder is also a Propane-powered conversion.

He seems to be quite knowledgeable about Marauders already, even though he recently purchased it. You might see what he has to say... when that persnickety website reappears.

Good luck with the car!!
