I am assuming I should be looking at the second photo? The part with the 2 screws?

It looks like this: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/search/EFI+Pressure+Sensor/02573/C2181.oap?model=Marauder&vi=1387829&year=2003&make=Mercury
I'd have to go & look to be sure but I think it is located on passenger fuel rail at the front. Just behind and to the left of the alt (if n/a engine).

I saw that as the fuel regulator. I didn't know it was the same thing.
Thank you Bill.

Wha huh? Why??? Are you assuming:
1. The fuel pressure side is dirty/blocked.
2. The vacuum side is dirty/blocked.
3. FRPS is blown.

I've replace mine 2 or three times--have extra on hand ---I usually wait till pressure is done --like being off for a long time say over night to make sure --before preplacing--takes about 10 minutes....

My car is throwing a code. I can throw 1 code to pass emissions, but not 2. This one is the easiest to fix. The other is because of my modified exhaust, which I have no interest in "fixing".

Code please?
It will not say unless I go to autozone or some place. I was throwing P0153. Turns out I needed to change a drivers downstream o2 sensor. I did that yesterday and it's still throwing a code for fuel rail. I did not reset the computer yet.
Check engine light is NOT on, but if someone from a testing station sees this fuel rail problem when they do a plug in, I am screwed.
Scary, isn't it?
Dom, see if you can blow through it...
I will do that later. I cleaned it about 2 years ago. I don't think it's dirty.
I would imagine it was throwing this code because of the bad o2 sensor that is now changed.
Like I said, I get no check engine light. Only someone a shop can read this. I will clean this, reset it and see how things go.

Who told you that you could have one code and pass? Then you say you will use your modified exhaust as that one code? Explain please.
The only thing you are allowed is a not ready for EVAP when it's colder than 50*

Emissions people told me and a friend of mine told me.
The car can throw one "NOT READY" code, but 2 will be reject, which is worse than fail. It cannot have CHECK ENGINE. That's a whole other set of codes. CHECK ENGINE will fail.
If this happens, the registration will be changed.
I love the EPA. :shake:

There is no such thing as a not ready code. What you meant to say was one not ready monitor. Big difference. What they failed to tell you is that one monitor is EVAP and the only reason why that's allowed a not ready is because your PCM won't test it unless it's 50* or higher. Zero codes are allowed to exist whether on your dash, stored in memory, or pending. With all that said, what code are you throwing because of your exhaust and why do you think they will let it pass??
Post 10 makes no sense whatsoever.

Ok sorry I worded everything poorly, but it seems as though you know exactly what's going on.
Right now I have no codes, but the fuel rail is is NOT READY... I guess.
The code I was throwing was P0153 and I took care of that by changing the drivers downstream o2 sensor.
You are telling me the EVAP will always say NOT READY unless it's 50+ and the car will never be allowed to pass with a EVAP NOT READY. Therefore, I cannot pass until we get a heatwave or I have to wait until spring?
Translation, there is no way to pass in winter.
Correct?

You could set it on fire?
On a serious note, did you reset the PCM after installing the O2 sensor and drive many times over a few days then try to see if there are codes? Do you still have an SCT handheld?

No. I said twice that EVAP is the ONLY monitor allowed not ready. Fuel rail would be a code, it doesn't have a not ready or a ready because it is not a monitor.
This is so stupid simple that you are letting it all go completely over your head!
There is 11 monitors to the OBD11, not all cars use all monitors, the Marauder uses 8 or 9. The Monitor's jobs are simply that, test the associated systems (cats, o2's, ETC) quite often looking for a hard fault (bad part) or something not registering within a given parameter that is written in the tune. If it senses an issue your monitor will trip a code.
System ready means all is good for that group it has tested.
System not ready means your junk isn't within the set parameters and the PCM is trying to compensate or simply can't
Unsupported means that particular monitor is shut off in the tune and the PCM can not test nor adjust and screams "I have a tune loaded"..
A CODE is for failed parts, skewed readings, ETC. of one of the systems and the PCM has already tried to compensate for it and it wasn't enough. Codes mean broken ****.
Pending codes are when the PCM is still trying to make up for the issue and it hasn't finished testing to see if it's enough to resolve the issue.
Basically, if you have a code, then you already had a monitor not ready because the monitor tripped the code. - horse/carriage - floor/roof - you/me next time I see you.
Wording poorly will yield you DUMB advice because they didn't know any better. Plus it makes my brain hurt..
Hope I wrote this out in the most simplest terms so we don't repeat next time around.
Now go pass that thing! How many threads over the years has there been with you and emissions????

Yes they would as long as there were no engine codes.
Anything made before 1996 has no testing. Rumor has it, cars would blow up on the dyno and the owners would sue the city and win!

Hey this was considered a normal repair back in the day when cans were made out of tin - except we used actual exhaust clamps to hold it on..... but it worked.

Absolutely, They also like it when you touch them in an erotic way, smell of an alcoholic beverage and........ pick out their ear wax and taste it. Try it, it works, well that's what my dog told me, I have no actual real world experience with the above suggestions, and, quite frankly.... I am wondering how he knows this stuff.........:woof::woof:
