I know at least a couple of people here have been able to get the overhead console down. I have tried and fAiled. The three screws are out and I tried to start at the front, but she just won't come down. I guess i just have to be led all the way through. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After all 3 screws are down, just pull down, ita all on pop clips, just be careful you dont get hit on the head when it pops down

Just out of curiousity, why would you want to take it down anyway? my Marauder has that, and I Luv it. It's a great place to keep the shades on cloudy days, and at night time.

the only way to change the bulbs is to take the console down

Once all the screws are out pull down evenly from the front.

would one expect to get red in the face before the clips release and the console comes down? pull down on the actual front or the two sides at the front? I have taken a few wacks at this to no avail.

I wired my radar detector to the power lead for the compass with line taps, worked out beautifully.

Getting the console off was scary. I pulled and tugged for 20 min and shined a light through the gaps to see what was holding it.

There really is not a gentle way to do it. I was about to give up and splice into the mirror wire when I decided just to go for it. Get your fingers in the sides and pull straight down with authority, and every neuron in your brain is going to scream not to pull too hard.

Ultravorx is correct in warning you to watch your head as it will give suddenly and scare the ***** out of you.

My head is fine ....thanks. In hind sight you almost have to have your head in there to take the hit so the the wiring harness doesn't get pulled on too hard. Even though I knew what was coming it still surprised me when it finally "popped" out.
Thanks again for the help everyone.

I had problems getting mine down too. I wired in my Radar Detector, Changed the map lights to red, (all the interior lights) and replaced the big dome light with an XM Radio console. Someday I'll get pics. I like it.
