Is is true a C 6 can fit into this 63 Marauder of mine and make it have more power and speed???

Also is is possible to remove the exhaust and put in a new one without removing the engine???

Many folks have put C6s in '63s. Not me. It will not have more power and speed. It may transfer more power to the rear due to increased efficiency, and it will likely shift better. It will also handle more power so you can muscle up that 390, or go bigger.

Yes, you can change the exhaust pipes with the engine in the car.
No, you probably can't change the exhaust manifolds in the car. Mostly because the top bolts are likely to break. (rusted in)

What do you think is the biggest ford engine that could fit in that car without having to upgrade your suspension, springs, frame, etc because of the extra weight?

I met a guy who says hes got a 406 he's trying to sell that is in good shape but we havent talked money yet and I havent even seen it. But the motor in it now isnt original so why not upgrade if I can work out a good deal.

What do you think?

I think you need to do some research on the 406 to see if it will bolt up to the tranny and motor mounts. Your probably looking a spending a fair amount of money to do the swap right.

A 406 is a great engine, but it's not the way I would recommend for you. Get another 390 or a 428 and put a stroker kit in it. You can easily get over 450 cubes and lots of HP/torque at lower cost.

There are kits available to put a 460 in it if you want something a little more modern. If you want to get real modern you can put a new modular engine in it (lots of work).

The biggest engine the factory put in them was the 427 Super Marauder at 425 HP. There are brand new FE (427) aluminum blocks and heads available also. You can build a brand new aluminum 427 that will KICK ASS if you want to spend some big money.

Most FE engines will bolt up to your trans.

I've got a stroker 447ci FE and C6 currently in my 68 I'm willing to sell. Complete carb to pan, fan to trans tail shaft seal install and fire. H beams, forged pistons, ported Edelbrock heads, Comp cams big solid roller cam and oil fed roller lifters, Comp aluminum roller rockers and aluminum stands, everything, 850 annular Demon carb, Edelbrock water pump, rpm intake, gear reduction starter, etc. 13,000 miles on short block, maybe 500 miles on heads and cam. C6 just freshend and has a low gear set and TCI valve body. Does need a little more converter for the cam. Not sure how the headers would fit in the 63, but everything else should. Would take $ 6000. Everything painted up to look stock.

That looks awesome and sounds like a fair deal but a little out of my price range. If I were to do this I would have to do a little at a time. Start with a block and check it for spec and then possible have to pay to have it machined and then paint it myself. Then go from there. Thanks for the offer though.

Yeah i was looking at 460's but wasnt sure about the weight difference and how that would effect the rest of the car, meaning were these things engineered to handle the extra weight, would I have to replace suspension parts, and so on. Seems like it could get expensive real quick.

I'm thinking of maybe just keeping this 390 but removing it and replacing the heads with modern ones that I would like to be porcelain but would probably end up with painted ones. And while the engine is out go ahead and check the pistons for run out and maybe even have the block bored out and add larger pistons, depending on cost.

This exhaust def gotta go but need to research those and price as well.

Also the intake manifold I would replace with an aluminum one from summit that costs like 350 or 400 bucks so I could put a 4 barrel on and get rid of this 2 valve.

I hear these holly quick fuel slayer 600's are the way to go with this engine.

Also wanting some rims like that younger guy has on his except chrome.

Just need to hit the lottery, lol. Thanks for the info man, I appreciate it. Let you know how it all unfolds. Almost done with my steering wheel, will post a pic when it is complete, should be this week sometime.
