Hi everyone.

What is the best way to actually lift my motor out of my Marauder? I'm sure there are horror stories and the right ways.

The upper and lower intakes are already out but can be reinstalled.

Looking for some help.

Let me know. Thanks all!

I pulled a MM engine out with the intake manifolds removed but left the hood on. The transmission was slid back but supported at the bellhousing by a floor jack and a small 2x4 piece of wood.

Hey Roy, did you lift from the rear and front corners with brackets, or another method? I will be pulling an engine from a Mark VIII in the near future and looking for lift points/ bracket ideas.

Hey, haven't seen you posting for a while. Welcome back.

Below is what I did. It was very simple.

I ripped mine out FULLY intact! Wiring, blower, headers... In two hours.. AND didn't remove the hood! Winning.

You forgot the torque converter, and the transmission. Lol

YES!

I asked a little while back if the engine could be pulled with the tranny and headers installed, the answer was NO. Then I inquired about leaving the passenger's side header attached and never got an answer. Here it is:

Thanks for the replies- that looks like a good method. Looks like I'll need to find a nice heavy webbed strap!

I used a chain with bolts mounted in the right rear and left front.

Wow! Thanks everyone for your quick responses!

I should have been more precise in my original post. I needed lift point suggestions, and that's mostly what I got. I really like the one running a strap, or two, under the lower intake and hoisting it out that way.

Any other suggestions? And no, I don't want to break anything...

Thanks! -j

One of the bolts was at the lower alternator mount and the back one was either at the head or transmission bellhousing. It was a while ago since I did this job.

You can release the hood shocks to lift the hood or just remove it. If you lift the hood too high, you can crack the windshield. :o Wiper cowl needs to come off too.

I did that to my early build 92 GMLSHPP.

I just did this with the trans still attached (much easier removing the trans out of the car instead of under it, goes double for installing it lol). I removed the hood. I used the drivers side hole in the block for the alternator and the passenger side top bellhousing bolt. I had to use different bolts that were longer so I could attach a chain. I even did it with the intake and headers still on. I took the fan/ radiator out of the car for added clearance.

I also put it back in the same way with all the accessories on except the alternator.

PS. there is a chain under that green tie down. That tie down was just a backup in case one of the bolts to the chain let go.

This pic is of the install without the intake on.
