Screech sound when first starting

I've replaced the water pump,new today tensioner and pulley and it still has that pissed off Gerbil sound that lasts for a second or two when you first start the car up
What are some other things to look at that I'm overlooking.

Starter bendix drive sticking and being spun by flywheel when the engine catches/fires up. Took me a long time to find this and had to be under the car to see/hear it.

Did you replace the belt also?

Pull the belt off and start the car. If the screeching noise is gone it's the belt. If it's isn't gone it's somewhere else.

No I didn't change the belt,it looked fine bit for the price maybe I'll give it a go.ill also crawl under and give the starter a listen.

I had that same thing on my silver 04. Sold it before I ever found out what it was. I like the starter idea.

Well I have not changed it yet but that is exactly where the sound is coming from.

This sound? I posted this a few years ago. If so a small piece of magnet broke off inside and is rattling around. I cleaned mine out and put it right back in. Lasted me another couple years..

Sounds like starter. had that happen to me. Have someone start it while you put your ear down behind the passenger front tire. You'll definately hear it clear then....or do it with the drive belt off and get the same result.
