Guy at the shop has a billet oil pump he says he can make me a deal on for my build. Believe he said it was the TSS billet gears.
Trying to decide if I need these or not.
Is there a certain HP level where these become a better idea?
I'm really trying to draw the line somewhere, but if I "need" the billet gears I might pull the trigger.

IMHO.. it's better than the powdered metal one that's in there. If the engine is apart I'd put it in. One less thing to worry about down the road.

I have TSS oil pump gears in my engine. They are insurance against the gears cracking if you ever have detonation occur. The more aggressive your engine, the more likely the need for them.

No personal experience, but at least one engine builder claims he has never seen a failure with the TSS. If I was in your spot I'd get it, cheap insurance.

Most failures are caused from high RPM's (7,500) and bouncing rev limiters, not high HP.
