View Full Version : Rear air springs out of balance??

A few months ago I replaced both the rear shocks and air springs and have noticed that when I park the car, the drivers side will deflate a bit (some deflation is normal as I understand via the compressor after shut down) however the passengers side doesn't seem to deflate at all. When I start the car back up, the drivers side rises to the same level s the pax side. The question I have is: is there a check valve for each shock and if so, where is it located? Also I thought the air supply is split with a "T" fitting making it almost impossible not to inflate and deflate at the same time and rate for both shocks? Is there a way to completely deflate the entire system to reset the defaults? Thanks in advance for your help!

Each air bag has a solenoid on top. Your drivers side is leaking.

Or the right side solenoid is not working(OP said r/s doesn't lower) which will not allow the right side to vent.

Before you do anything take before and after measurements since you stated it "seems" to look like it's not lower.

is there a check valve for each shock and if so, where is it located? Also I thought the air supply is split with a "T" fitting making it almost impossible not to inflate and deflate at the same time and rate for both shocks? There are no check valves, and the shocks don't do the inflating or deflating, the air springs do.
As stated above, the air springs have solenoids that are controlled by the RAS/VAPS module behind the glove box. The solenoids are commanded to open to inflate or deflate the air bags as necessary, so if one of them is bad or disconnected, that side won't do either function.

That's the answer I was looking for and seems to make the most sense. I'll double check the wiring on the pax side. Thanks for all the responses!
