Is there a supercharger which is CA emissions certified?

Vortech. That is the only CA legal supercharger. It must have this CARB # on it: (CARB EO D-213-27)

I called Vortech today. I failed to get the guy's name, but I heard they have no superchargers certified to fit or work with a 2003-2004 Mercury Marauder, much less pass CA smog. What gives?

Remember, I no longer have a stock 4.61 motor. I purchased the M-6009-A46X block
https://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField= 22907

with top-end work to follow. In the end, I will have a 5.0L small block Ford Annihilator.

Maybe try talking to John Snee at Vortech. jsnee@vortechsuperchargers.com I think he was the one that DR dealt with at Vortech so would know more about Vortech's and Marauder.

Is this not the head unit here? http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/...n.php?pvk=2368 (http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/...n.php?pvk=2368)

But I don't think Vortech makes a complete kit specifically for the Marauder (part number 4FL218-110 ?) or at least not anymore. I think Dennis completed the kit by supplying the pipes, couplers, intercooler, etc. Now I think DR includes a Paxton (same internals as Vortech) but Paxton doesn't have the right EO number (cause he sent me the Paxton and it had a 2003 Mustang Mach 1 EO number on it).

What type of emissions testing do you have to go through? If it is just a plug in play obd2, just do a blower with egr and make sure not to have any CEL codes.

Visual, CEL, sniffer, the entire shabang. Nazifornia, remember? But not all counties have the same strict standards.

John Snee no longer works for Vortech. Vortech states their biggest concern is not CA emissions, but will their supercharger fit into the Marauder engine bay AND will custom piping be needed.

Lastly, after input received, I have no desire to work with Dennis Reinhart.

World peace is easier than dealing with CA on almost anything: EPA, business, gun ownership, etc.. I want to move to Texas!

Or move to a non smog county.

Which counties require a smog inspection for the registration renewal?Counties that Require a Smog Inspection for Vehicle Registration RenewalAlamedaButteColusaContr a CostaFresnoGlennKernKingsLos AngelesMaderaMarinMercedMonter eyNapaNevadaOrangeSacramentoSa n BenitoSan FranciscoSan JoaquinSan Luis ObispoSan MateoSanta BarbaraSanta ClaraSanta CruzShastaSolanoStanislausSutt erTehamaTulareVenturaYoloYuba
There are six counties that require smog certifications within certain Zip Codes only. These counties are:
El Dorado, Placer, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Sonoma.
Follow this link to determine which Zip Codes (http://smogcheck.ca.gov/pubwebquery/Ziparea/ZipLookup.aspx) are included.

Thank you, but I do not wish to do business with Reinhart.

^^^No No No not do business with him, but you can find the # you need to work with for head unit. You are going to have to do your own fab work.

I don't really pay attention to the California blower conversation, but I seem to recall various threads in the Mustang forums about these things. I want to say the people recommend using Vortech with a specific carb #.

I suggest checking other forums (svtperformance and such). Please post back here when you find out what's up.

Edit: Oops. I just noticed the answer was in post 2.

I see you spoke with Vortech. Ask them about a Mach 1 carb certification instead. Maybe you can make that work.
