That sounds like it's knocking / detonation. Detonation = death to the MM's engine.
What grade fuel are you using?
Any work done recently?

premium gas only
When did it start?
Is it possible there was regular gas added by mistake...... yours or the station?

I was up in New Jersey a few years ago. Told the attendant to fill up with premium / high test.
Moron filled up with regular. Had to baby the Marauder until I could fill up in Virginia.
I believe New Jersey is the only state that requires an attendant to pump gas.

Cause #1
try not to use any other gas than premium. I bought my marauder and the previous owner was using regular. talk about knocking. lol. took 3 weeks for the knocking to go away.
Cause #2
you could be low on oil. or your oil filter is dirty. try using motorcraft filters. seem to work the best.
Cause #3
your timing chain tensioners are going bad.
bottom line, take care of your engine. and in return it will take care of you.

car sat for a few months before i bought, car stalled alot so gave tune up, change cops, change oil and added k&n cold air intake. Then I changed fuel filter which was real dirty and cleaned iacv so i added fuel treatment since fuel filter was dirty. Could be bad gas but i only use premium gas

You can be pumping and paying for premium when actually your getting regular. It's happened before.. gas delivery driver fills tank with wrong grade of fuel.

Some wild guesses no one has metioned yet:
Cracked flexplate
damaged catalytic converter
oh and oregon also requires an attendant to pump your gas.

sounds like you have what i have. A rattle during low rpm acceleration. Very apparent in 3rd and od as the torque converter locks up. how often does youre rattling occur? all rpm ranges? i either put in 91 oct or 94 oct. when i bought the car the dealer put in a nice complimentary half tank of regular......

If you have a SCT tunner, retard your preliminary zero to 2000 rpm 2 degrees and ,that should correct it.:burnout:

Its spark knock, bad gas, wrong grade of gas, what ever the cause, drive it lightly till you run this tank out. Head to a name brand station and fill with premium. Try it again after about half of that tank is gone.
