I know this isn't the Crown Vic forum, but I know there are a lot of smart guys on here who know what they're doing building hot rods. My question is this: has anyone converted a 2005+ Crown Vic/Grand Marquis from drive by wire to cable driven? Is it possible?

Although better for econemy, I haven't seen many top end performance parts for DBW cars. It's also a lot harder to drop in a completely new engine. You're stuck with the same 65mm TB, you can't use a bigger Mustang plenum (vacuum issues I think) and there will always be that slight delay from when you mash the pedal to when the TB opens all the way.

Aside from the wiring harness, cable, throttle body, plenum, & computer, what other parts would I need to rob off a junk yard doner car? Thanks.

A tune can increase throttle response and make it feel like a throttled car.

My 08 Taurus had awful throttle lag, my tuner up'ed the throttle voltage (I believe that's what it is) and it was like night and day difference.

I concur!

If you need a tune, let me know.

You have no reason to change from DBW to cable driven. You can use any plenum on your car, you just have to modify some vacuum hoses. There is a writeup on PantherBB.

Also, you can use BBK 70mm and 75mm Throttle bodies. One is made for the V6 mustang and the other for the F150. They will both fit and members have had 0 issues running them.

Send me a pm of you need any more info.
