Gotta do some cutting on the exhaust, but the blade currently have not making the grade. In your opinion what is the best reciperocatng saw blade you use for cutting metal. Stainless steel.

Thanks,

How fine a tooth blade (TPI) are you using?

Get a decent bi-metal blade with something like a 24 TPI or better still 32 TPI count and you should be good to go.

I prefer a portable bandsaw! :)

For recip blades I actually found the 18TPI longest lasting. Bounce a little more if not held tight, but chew through FAST and last longer. Get the taller ones as they stay straight better.

Using the one that came with the saw.
Says it is a 10 TPI Metal cutting blade. Way off of what you are suggesting.

That one shown and the brands listed seem to be getting the most consistent good ratings and recommendations. Are these high speed blades 2400 spm or slow it down to about hand saw speed? Laying on side while doing so difficult to get good angle.

Comparing it to hack saw blades i think they may have misnamed it. Looks more like a 32 tpi meaning it will seem to take forever.
Need to make a run.

Way too coarse of a blade for the material that you are cutting.

Do you have access to a Home Depot or a Fatenal?

Hell for the money you can run to a Harbor Freight and use some of their blades as long as you sap them out with some frequency.

High speed Wayman. Any good blade from 18-24 and your good. 32 works good, just too slow for me and dull out too quick.

I use an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel for stuff like that.
I'm not a huge fan of reciprocating saws, but they do have their place sometimes.
I have used these blades with some success

The best by far!

Also an angle grinder with a cutting wheel is my next choice.

Slid up to Lowe's and picked up a pack of Lenox 14 TPI. Went thru the pipe like butter.

Went with 8" 14 TPI Lenox, but had to start out slow speed to get it to bite. 32 was trying to do it, but like you said was just slow and dulled first half inch of tip. Was trying to go to fast with it.

Already had the saw and didn't want to buy another tool just yet. Some where down the road i may get an angle grinder. Be a lot better than using a Dremel type tool for large jobs.

Dremels are good for some things, I use them with a diamond burr or bit to grind out a broken drill bit from a hole, or a tap or hardened bolt. To me their advantage is their size and versatility.
Not made for heavy work, or extended usage IMHO you can burn up a Dremel pretty easy.

It's one of those tools that I have, but don't use much. But when I need it, it works great and I'm glad I have it.

YMMV

Tail pipe broke loose from passenger side muffler. Will be using Dremel cutting wheel to cut off a very small part of muffler exit pipe to install turn downs to hold till i get around to redoing, when warm weather hits and i can install the headers.
