Hey fellas...

I got an odd issue here, and an seeing if anyone can shed some light on this. I have looked online and am finding a LOT of contradictory info.

I am doing a blower install on my car and I am trying to use my stock 4.6L 2V balancer to bolt the Metco lower pulley hub to and the bolt holes are not aligning. I referenced the P/N from the MM and Aviator balancer and they match. However, based on any pics I can find, the balancer from an MM/aviator and a Crown Vic LOOK identical in the placement of the three bolt holes. Has ANYONE had the issue of their Metco hub not aligning to the bolt holes on their balancer?

Metco confirmed I have the right hub for an MM/Cobra/Lightning balancer. I am apprehensive to get a used MM/Aviator balancer if the bolt holes are in the same spots. I found a 03/04 Cobra balancer online for a decent price, and that balancer looks like the holes are spaced out farther, and it will work.

Can someone confirm or debunk this? (MM/Aviator bolt holes ARE or ARE NOT farther out then the CV balancer?) all the pics I am finding suggest they are in the same spots, however I have never read of an MM owner having issues installing a Metco lower hub on their stock balancer....

Different balancer Confirmed on Rockauto. Part numbers do not match.

Right,and that doesn't surprise me.

It is just odd that all the pics I see shows the bolt holes in the same location as a Crown Vic. This is why I was seeing an actual pic of an MM balancer on my FB post.

If the holes don't line up, you need a different balancer.

car-part.com = Aviator/Marauder/Mach 1 DOHC interchange
these will work with you Metco hub.

Are we sure using the DOHC balancer itself on a SOHC motor will not affect balance?

You need an automatic Mach1/Marauder/Aviator OEM pulley part number 2c5z-6312-aa. It has a very distinct ring protruding in the center. See pic for comparison. Left - SOHC, and some DOHC. Right AutoMach1/Marauder/Aviator.

Once you go aftermarket, the pulley part numbers get screwed up somewhere in the interchange database.

Most SOHC pullies are like early DOHC ones, with holes closer to the center, and lack of smooth mating surface.

Obviously the 03-04 Cobra pulley is even a better choice as it will help center the hub. Otherwise I suggest making the hub centric ring to avoid a wobbling pulley.

Metco's site says its for an 03-04 Cobra balancer only. So it will fit our factory ones too?

Yes. I discussed that with Metco before I ordered mine and told them the Marauder guys are using them. I think the Mach 1 is the same as the Marauder as well.
