The shop installing mine can't seem to get the pin to set in it gets stuck on the ring gear so it only goes half way in any reason this is happening?

Are they actual FRPP gears? Does the guy have the right amount of shims?

There is a special cross pin for taller gears I had to use one with 4.56 gears in my jeep

IIRC the 4.56 requires a different pin, but I never supplied a different one to the shop that did my 4.30. Plus I switched to 4.10s and did it myself the last time using the same pin.
And I don't ever recall reading up on 4.30's needing it. Mine were Motive gears I believe.

I just did some digging around and quite a few have had to ever so slightly grind a corner of one ring tooth (more like round off the sharp edge) and this mostly pertains to 31 spline axles. A few said to keep manipulating the spiders and it will eventually slide in. 28 spline should be good to go.
Keep in mind that my ring gear was toothless when I removed it, therefor no issues to remove..
Hope this helps.

No issues when I installed 4.30's into a 31 spline 01' Cobra.
