Use OEM Ford and replace all at once.

Are any of the low voltage plug "locking tabs" broken??

The low voltage plugs will not stay plugged into the coil without them or some sort of wire tie to hold them tightly engaged......EXPERIENCE speaking here!!:argue:

They're made in China where the guy making them really doesn't care if the assembly is perfect.

Motorcraft seem to be the least problematic.:)

I've had nothing but good luck on all BWD products. They are all but second in line next to Motorcraft for OEM quality in my book. Having said that, coils is the one thing I haven't needed..

O'reillys bwd coil packs are Motorcraft, with the logo ground off. They buy old stocks of OEM stuff. You know when Ford revises a part, they don't like to keep using stockpiles of the bad outdated designs. I bought a fuel rail pressure sensor, the part number was older than the stock one of my 2003. Slight trade-off for cheaper.

Related story:
A few years ago I lost two coils in a turbo Volvo on a ski trip in Colorado. The turbo waste-gate line broke, allowing serious overboost. With the increased cylinder pressures, a couple coils couldn't jump the gap. If they fire internally once, they never work again. Anyway Napa had coils, which turned up being actual Volvo coils. $70 at Napa was better than $220 at the dealer.

So what can cause coil to keep going out just replace coil 2 and after 40-50 miles check engine came on and now coil 6

What are you scanning engine codes with? do you wash the engine regularly? do you have a coolant leak? I would take coil pak 6 and move it to another location to see if it follows. how old are the plugs?, what brand? and what gap?

How are you actually confirming its the coils? Are the clips in working order? Injectors dirty? Grounded out wiring causing coils to burn out? I've had my share of bad parts right out of the box but this seems to surreal.

Miss-fire doesn't always mean coil is bad. First thing, pull your spark plug and inspect it. The condition tells quite a bit. Regardless of what you have in there now, consider a brand new set of Motorcraft properly gaped. Also check the COP's carefully. Pull the boot and inspect the springs at both ends. Don't pull them off the coils though. Any corrosion? Have dielectric grease on the ends?

... Also check the COP's carefully ...

He said he has coil "pak"s, then "cops", but it appears he has COP's (= Coil On Plugs)?

Is it a 4v Marauder?

I have a misfire on cylinder # 3 NO CODES that will NOT follow the coil when swaped. In stalled new spark plugs (no change). Performed fuel induction service (no change) I changed the Fuel filter for a bigger one and put 6 oz Marvins Mystry Oil in the fuel tank seemed to be ok for the weekend about 50 miles then came back. Thinking dirty Injector??????

If coolant is getting into the coil on plug cavity..that is why I ask of a coolant leak, cops do not like water, coolant, getting wet

oh yeah they sure don't! They are covered pretty good and have a seal. Didn't think that would be a issue. But you are correct.
