Good Morning everyone -

I have an 04 Black w/ 117K original miles. It doesn't have a garage as a home, and as a result, it has quite a bit of paint weathering. I have chips, scratches, a couple small rust spots (where the driver door meets the frame), and a lot of clearcoat gone.

Without paying for a complete factory repaint ($3,000!!!!!), is there any product or method to use that would get my paint looking sharp again?

I vaguely remember a post a long time ago about the "Black Box" which I believe is a Turtle Wax Product, however after searching the forum I couldn't find anything.

Any assistance would be appreciated.:D

Black Box is just black tinted wax. It won't last long.

Try Dr. Color Chip. It's actual paint.

Other than minor scratches in the clear coat, there is not much you can do to make your paint look better. Past a certain point, when paint is weathered, chipped, or scratched bad, your only recourse is to repaint the problem areas. It's like diets, there are no short cuts that really work.

I have to chime in here... I had a dark brown (root beer) metallic 2005cvsport. It had the dreaded crowsfeet on hood top and trunk.

After you touch up the scratches, Put on rubber gloves and do all three stepS OF THE BLACK BOX.

YES IT IS "only wax", but it does fill in the voids and really helps overall. I was amazed. It filled in all of the crows feet (which trap light colored wax), and the car looked amazing afterward.

You may need to do it three or four times within 4 months, but again, It is cheap, and I was amazed.
