I have an 03 MM 300a, I have had the car for a month and a week, should I mess with the tranny fluid??? it changes fine no problems, 1st day I bought I put 500 miles on it and no problem... Fluid appears to be bright red, this car is my daily driver... Or like that saying if it's not broken don't fix it, but I like to proactive then reactive...

When in doubt, change it out.

^^^THIS^^^

I would also change the filter.

Fluid appears to be bright red, Colour is not a good way to judge transmission fluid. Just because it isn't oxidised (brown) doesn't mean it's good. It can still be contaminated and/or the additive pack can be depleted.

Unless you have maintenance records showing it's been changed recently, do it now.

Mercon V too. No dexron compatible mumbo jumbo fluid

I'd invest in either an aftermarket deep pan with a drain plug or just install a drain plug in the existing pan. Drain and refill every other oil change and you'll keep the tranny fluid in good shape. As stated ONLY use MerconV fluid.

Unless you know the service history I'd drop the pan and replace the filter. If the "lollipop" is still in the pan the pan has never been dropped. You can reuse the OEM gasket, no need to replace it.

Plenty to choose from B&M , TCI , Uhaul pan , I have a Mag Hytec double deep pan a bit pricey but extremely nice!

I'll second the Mag Hytec pan, increased capacity, good ground clearance (if you don't get the super-deep model). It features excellent construction and serviceability with a magnetic drain plug, at a higher price.

If cost is an issue you can do the U-Haul pan and get the serviceability of a drain plug without the cool factor of rigid cast aluminum cooling and extra capacity.

With Magtech double deep pan (8 quarts) you have to run their double deep filter?

I run a PML aluminum sand cast pan, thick flange (6 quarts) (Factory pan is 4), uses the regular filter you can get anywhere.

PML Transmission Pan Features

Increased oil capacity for cooler temperatures
Sand-cast aluminum with raised fins
3/16-inch thick wall construction to add strength to the transmission case
3/8-inch thick gasket flange will not bend when bolts are tightened
Machined gasket surface for a secure seal
Boss cast into pan can be machined for a temperature sensor
Magnetic drain plug for easier, less messy maintenance
Mounting hardware provided

This sits 1/4" lower than factory.
Any pan you get should be aluminum (Magtec and PML are)

I've seen some bring the filter as well with the pan...
