Just purchased a 2003 in great shape. She has 88k miles. Two things i will need to get fixed. AC and heater works just blows on high only. How and what is the cheapest way to fix this? I have been reading up here and for got the guys name but he fixes those parts?

Rear end has minor leakage. Will lift it up tomorrow to see better from where it is coming from but it looks like it is coming from where the driveshaft goes into the rear end. Im not real tech savvy so not sure what needs to be done there.

Also is 87 octane gas fine to run, this car is all stock.

thanks for any info. Im in love with this Marauder and want to take great care of her!!

Leak may be a pinion seal if it's in the center of the car. You will see where it leaks once you get it in the air. Don't wait long. If the seller is telling you this, get it checked out ASAP. Driving low on gear oil can cause more damage, and it won't be cheap.

Y'all be safe.

Replace the bcm that should fix the blower motor issue , take the car to an axle shop and have the rear end inspected. don't use 87 octane unless you want to start a "my motor went boom" thread! use premium fuel!

If the BCM is in the same spot as the Marquis, clear up your day! Mine was in a really nasty spot, and I spent the better part of 5 hours hunched over the fender trying to get the stupid thing out.

First time buyers, please educate yourself with basic specifications, try to find an owners manual, and go on line. Octane requirements, oil viscosity should be first on the list.

Don't run the 87 octane gas.. Even if the previous owner did and never had a problem. he probably never drove like a new owner would..

I'm assuming 93 octane and something along the lines of of 5W-40?

i figured 93 octane but just wanted to be sure...also i knew about the rear end as i crawled underneath to inspect the underbody before purchase. I brought 80/90 gear oil with me to pick the car up just in case. also drove it straight to Jiffy Lube had them change the oil i put 5w/20 Mobile one synthetic oil. checked the rear end and it was full. Drove her 3 hours home, drove like a champ!!

75-140 is the recommended gear oil with friction modifier if using conventional oils

75-140 is the recommended gear oil with friction modifier if using conventional oilsI don't think conventional oil comes in 75W-140...I believe it's synthetic-only.

Also, 91 Octane is what's recommended in the owner's manual.

93 octane and 5W-20 is what the owners manual says.

I'm running 0W-30.

You always want to use a quality oil filter. I only use Motorcraft FL-820S.

Straight front the owners manual

Octane recommendations
Your vehicle is designed to use
“Premium” unleaded gasoline with
an (R+M)/2 octane rating of 91 or
higher for optimum performance.
The use of gasolines with lower
octane ratings may degrade performance. The use of gasolines labeled as
“Premium” in high altitude areas that are sold with octane ratings of less
than 91 is not recommended.
Do not be concerned if your engine sometimes knocks lightly. However, if
it knocks heavily under most driving conditions while you are using fuel
with the recommended octane rating, see your dealer or a qualified
service technician to prevent any engine damage.

I wasn't going to. I've been recommended 5W20, but I just started one thread in the welcome section. Other then that, that's what a search is for.

0w30 or 5w30 is better protection - 5w20 is specd for CAFE requirements. a bit thicker on the hot end would be better protection for your MM.

Ford engineer basically said this. not trying to start oil war...[emoji1]

new blower motor, resistor and maybe the connector. If you replace only the resistor it will go out again since the blower motor is drawing too much amperage causing the resistor to blow.

RF Overlord

Marauders don't have a blower motor resistor. The Blower Speed Control Module uses PWM to drive the motor.

I run 93 octane unless I'm at the track (road course) which is when I run race fuel.
I only use Amsoil full synthetic in my show and race cars.

No, conventional 75w-140 is quite common. Been used for ever. It is used for oil-bath wheel hubs in Semi tractors & trailers. Semi diffs too, before the use of synth in diffs became the norm. Other Heavy Duty & agricultural equipment also.

If it isn't chipped, suggest a diablosport or similar performance tune. I also installed a JLT air intake. Two relatively cheap mods that provide a great gain. Welcome!

J-MAN

A JLT looks nice, but adds little HP. A tune from MO's creates a whole new driving experience. Best bang for the buck. Oh, TEXAS? 5-30 or 10-30 wt oil for sure.
