Has anyone attempted to change the oil himself. How hard is it to get that filter off.

Thanks....

It wasn't that hard with the correct filter wrench/tool. Aluminium foil works well as both a funnel and shoot for the oil to run down and away from the engine/frame/hoses when you bust the filter loose. It's a little more cramped than my Cobra was, but I've changed worse.

I've done mine twice now, and as Murader03 sez, use the "right" filter wrench...the kind that looks like a cup and fits over the end of the filter...made it MUCH easier than trying to swing the conventional strap wrench I used the first time...

I've also had to give up on filling the filter with new oil before installing it, as you have to tilt the filter to get it in place, and the new oil runs out all over everything...(boo, hiss)...unless I just haven't found the trick yet...

I have one of those craftsman strap wrenches. I'll see about getting the cap. The one I have fits a Motorcraft FL1-A filter..... don;t know if it fits the MM filter

The strap wrench and the metal band wrench will take about 1/2 hr. to make work, use the cap wrench and socket, wallmart has a wrench that will fit the 820-s filter.
