Hey fellow MM world. I'm having a persistent vibration occurance when my car is shifted into D and sitting in idle.( not present in Neutral or park) It's sort of like a pulsation that comes and goes every few seconds. 80k cleaned the MAF and checked the plugs . What type of things can I start to diagnose and narrow it down too.

Check your drive shaft U joints for excessive play.

Does it go away when you turn the HVAC off?

RPM at idle with foot on brake might be set too high. Had the same problem with the tune I got with the tuner.

I currently have a stock tune so RPM at idle wouldn't be effected by that right (but it is felt when foot on brake and sitting in drive, for example at a stop light) & with the HVAC on or off it is still present, moreso I'd Say with the AC on, could It be electrical..

Coil?
Coil to plug connector?
Connector on the coil loose or clip broken?

Hm interesting I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to my mechanical abilities and problems so I will present these things to a local dealer and hope to get to the bottom of this. I've heard of IAC going south could cause a vibration similar

I've heard this as well about the IAC. IAC cleaning seems to be a fairly simple procedure, so I'll probably do it myself when I get the time this week. I'll post up results.

HotRaud90- Ok let me know if that helps at all maybe replacing it would do justice as well.
I'm leaning toward checkig my u joints and coil to plug connector. Idk I just want the vibration gone also had some magna flow muffler welding done I've read that the dampeners could have been effected.

I had a similar issue.

I had taken it to multiple people, all of whom were motivated to accept my money, and all refused as they could not figure it out.
Finally, after maybe 2 plus years, someone figured it out: It was the exhaust. They clamped on some dampeners and my problem was 100% solved.

if it only does it idling, at a light, not moving etc..then u-joint wouldnt be it as they are not moving at the time

Agent- hey bud thanks for chiming in I am really going to look into the dampeners now that I am thinking about it, the vibration came shortly after getting re welding done to the muffler hangers which broke off previously. I may need to just get a new set of mufflers and dampeners.

Rubbercty- Ok that's what I was thinking and yes only at idling in Gear with foot on brake. Gas mileage seems to be fine and car runs great besides the pesky vibration. Had a new motorcraft battery installed and alt was checked green.

It could be this, but this vibrating problem came about for me randomly. Not after any welding work or anything of the sort. Just kinda popped up out of nowhere. This very well could be the problem though.

What he said about the idling not moving thing. If this were a problem at speed, that would be one thing. But this is a stand still problem as stated above.
Also, if I may add, I only experience this when in drive. Not in neutral, not in park...only in drive. Which tells me it really might be an IAC problem, at least for me. The dampener solution might work, but why would it only vibrate in drive and not all the time, no matter what gear the transmission was in? Just my two cents. There could be something I missing. Feel free to correct me.

Were the magnaflows new or used? I had the same problem after having magnas takin off to try a different brand (Flowmaster). Didn't like those so had the mags welded back on and shortly after the vibrations started. Did it mostly when moving away from parked condition. My solution, I moved to Aero Turbines.

The Mags were stated new( not so sure about that anymore) but after a year and some change the dag hangers were rusted and broke off the outside of the mufflers and basically instead of replacing the two mufflers I had them re welded back on and the problem occurred. Won't be going back to that muffler shop. There could be a leakage of some sort occurring as well.
