'66 S55 is what I've been basing my car off :)
I'm a bit disappointed with the Barn Finds article, but then they made the same mistake that many do. While the 1966 Mercury S-55 is a great car, and I'd love to have one, it IS NOT a Marauder.
Production on these was 2,916. The FM radio is unusual.

Very cool. growing up, I NEVER recall seeing one of these 60's Mercury 2 door cars.
I'd like anything 1966 with a Q code ;)

Is it a Park Lane, Monterrey or what ever the other M one was or a stand alone S-55 :dunno:

It is a stand alone S-55. This was Mercury's version of the 7.0 Litre Galaxie.
A lot of people connect the Marauder and S-55 together, but of the 10 different S-55 models that Mercury made from 1962 thru 1967, only one was a "Marauder S-55". Five of them were "Monterey S-55", and four were "S-55" (the '66-7).
Any S-55 is a cool car that I would love to drive.

I actually owned a '66 S-55 for a couple months. Mine was even more rare -- a '66 S-55 Convertible. One of 649 or something like that. The guy i bought it from bought it in the early 80s and left it at his parents house, with the top down....in the backyard. I couldnt get the car until their neighbor tore out the fence that was built after the car was driven back there.
Car was very complete, but very very rusty and had been wrecked in the front passenger corner. I bought it for $300 and after a long time wondering what i should do i decided to get rid of it. Too big of a project for me and it deserves a proper restoration. 18 year old me wouldnt have given it the attention it needed at all. A guy in Cali wanted the car to restore, so I sold it to him. He had a 428 ready for the car so he didnt care if it had an engine or not, so I kept it. Its on a stand in my garage with nothing to go into :( here are a few pics of it. If i can get them to work
