A new guy at work has a friend with a very hurt aka run to the ground Marauder .. 03 blk 198 k on it . Somethings going on with the gas tank to the car not work in the speedometer stopped working and rust all over the car I haven't seen it with my own eyes yet but I plan on to in a few weeks.

Guy said he take 2500 for it - would this be a ok price for a parts car ? ?

I know nothing about parking a car out but I know there's a body shop family friend that probably could do it for the right price.

Prolly not worth it if you have to pay someone to part it..there goes the profit..the bumper covers if in decent shape will prolly get you $400 front and $500-1000 + rear..pending condition of course.

Are you taking orders on parts yet? :D

Check the condition of Marauder specific parts. Wheels, interior, motor, exterior bits. Factor in price of tow and storage fees and that $2500 will quickly become $3000. If you can't do the work yourself and don't have a place to store it will be hard to make profit.

Is there anything special on it that you want to cheery pick that might make it worth it ? If you have to pay someone to tow it and take it apart(extended disassembly time for rusty stuff) and part whole thing out, Seems to me a lot of effort for little return. I paid 2500 for one with 175K on it, idea was to cheery pick some parts , sell the rest. Started to take it apart LMAO, couldn't do it. So in a few weeks it will come off jack stands running as it should with every thing working. Hope when you decide which way to go it works out well for you. :coolman: Maybe 1500 or less ???

Why not buy it, fix it up and then sell your Chrysler? :P:D

What color is it?

In your situation, without doing the work yourself, it won't be worth it. If it's rusted underneath, it will cost more to have it stripped, which means there isn't any money in parting it out. If you don't have a place to store, package and ship parts, that will make it even tougher to make any money.

Value (low) of the total parts times 50%.
Best way to determine a parts car value, and you to make any money taking it on.

I was talking about this today with my brother over coffee. Seems ~$3k cars that need work or for parts are popping up more often.
As stated, parting a car out takes TIME. So that's paid labor if you can't do it.
Also time to store the car while not fully parted, time to marry the forums and sell part by part, time to package and ship each part. TIME.
Return on investment: small items Marauder specific, if nice and priced right, are a quick return. Larger, hard to ship items, might be local sale only, or profit cut by shipping expense. Body parts, seats, engine/trans/rear end = like NOT shipping these, local sale only, = time and less money. Locals want a bargain even more than computer shopping. They have to buy gas and spend their TIME picking parts up.
So, my scenario (can't do the labor) means a parts car would be under a tarp in my yard for me.
A $2k car could get maybe be paid for if the engine/trans/rear were good, pulled out and sold locally. Then sit on / sell the body.
Does the body have enough to sit on or sell?
front bumper, rear bumper, head lights, tail lights, grille, header panel, reverse panel all nice? Those could add up to ~$2k, but not free or fast to remove, sell and ship. I'd keep them until my car was sold - as rare spares.
Wheels and tires nice? easy to sell those fast for ~$1k if you will ship them. or, keep as spares.
Sheet metal parts are spares only, nobody buys fenders, doors, trunk lids etc.
Interior - seats and console, door panels, gauge cluster and dot matrix trim could get close to $1500 back, but must be very nice and selling seats is hard to do. That stuff is hard to, or no shipping too.

So here you go - a $2k parts car, unless you have a month to take it apart, store each part, take pictures, maintain the ad, package and ship the parts - then get rid of the shell, is not close to worth it.
It's a great spare car if you have room for that.
The one you mention, with high miles, rust and running issues sounds like $1500 tops. Any Marauder item NOT in nice shape, deduct it's value from that price.

Or give me a lead on it and I'll save one from the scrapper! :)

Good Luck Mark!
I know you have wanted a Marauder for a long time!

Does this car run? Is the engine hurt at all?
