View Full Version : Oil Dripping - A/C Compressor?

There is oil dripping off the A/C Compressor. Mostly the front, just behind the pulley.

I am not sure if it's from the A/C Compressor or the motor?

I can't see any leaks from the motor.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Put UV dye either in the engine oil or in the AC system and run the car some.

Then use a UV light/glasses to trace your leak.

For my money, I would dye the AC system because it is more contained and will save you from having UV dye everywhere if later on down the road you need to dye the engine.

When my last ProCharger was leaking so bad it looked like my compressor was leaking too Billy.......have you checked your blower to see if it's wet??

I HATE leaks!!:mad2:

You need to drive some older cars. That will temper your tolerance for leaks.

What color is the oil?

Could be from the A/C accumulator.

My accumulator just **** the bed on the Marquis. Check that out real good.

Mines not leaking.... yet. Will replace it soon. Does anyone know the P/N for the aluminum replacement?

A/C will have dye in it from the factory and will be bright green.

If its not bright green than its prob engine oil - most likely from the valve cover or timing cover.

4 Seasons #83148, $22 at RA. 99% sure. I would have to dig through a mountain of receipts to be 100%.
