It has not rained in awhile and I drove the MM to work today. I really didn't want to leave the car alone :bigcry: MAN I was worried all day so when I came back to work the car had tiny dust particles from the trees:mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2:. I don't remember which member has in their signature but it stated "having a black car and keep it clean is a full time job". So the MM was christened today with the rain on the new paint job.

Look into a new product called glass coatings. Makes keeping it clean a lot easier. I swear by it but must be professionally installed.

Drove mine to work last year, one time.

Too much rush hour traffic and idiotic drivers. Never again.

I don't drive mine. Just sit in it and make vroom vroom noises. Lol. Same here , no work does it see and if it is raining it stays home. If I'm out and rain comes thru then so be it. I have 2 cars and a black truck. No time to wash and polish them all

I currently daily drive mine so looks disgusting and there's no point in washing it as it'll be dirty again the next day.

I used to own a stretch limo company and after years of detailing and worn out shoulders I specifically purchased a silverbirch Marauder for easy cleaning. I do love the black marauder just not all the extra cleaning, I am a clean freak and black is a no no for me now. :)

The Marauder is the last black car I'll own.

Black MM's are worth the effort.

RIP paint.

It's already pretty dinged and stonechipped although it still cleans up alright. I would have choose an easier colour to keep clean if I had the choice but I don't have that luxury of choice over here. At the end of the day it's still a car that's supposed to be driven and enjoyed, it's nowhere near perfect but I also couldn't own a spotless garage queen that I would be afraid of to drive.

IMO, any owner of a black MM should own a California Duster. Mine and my car are like best friends.

If the particles seem to have a yellow tint, then it's pollen. I've known people with pollen allergies, but I didn't understand their seasonal struggle until owning a black Marauder.

What's the big deal? New paint = easier to clean.

It's a Mercury, drive it, wash it, repeat.

Washed the MM with Dawn dish soap. Bondo dust doesn't just rinse off. It looks ok when you power wash it, but when it dries it looks like heavy duty hard water stains.
I seriously need to have the whole car painted. Not enough cash plus I don't want it to be a garage queen either. I'll just do the best I can with what I have. It's what's under the hood that counts anyway....

+1 to JBeezy about the California Dust Buster. I use every day and my co-workers think I wash the MM every day. We're having our big Live Oak pollen drop right now, which is the worst tree in this area for the green sheen:)

Spots from Dawn? I don't understand what you mean.

The one and only time Dawn graced my beautiful black paint it left water marks everywhere! I couldn't even machine buff them out with #4. It was more of a "time will heel" deal. I rinsed it with the same hose I always used with any regular car soap? Couldn't tell ya. All I know is never ever again. I thought it was permanent.

As for the bondo dust, I just use compressed air and cheese (tack) cloth.

It worked just fine for me. I wanted to strip all the oils/wax off too so I can see exactly where I need to concentrate on buffing. They actually recommend dish soap for this purpose. I use a leather chamois to dry it. Never fails me. The paint looks just fine now, other than being 13 years old. Maybe it was really hot out the day you did it?

Maybe the fiberglass bondo I used is harder to get off than other types.
